Don't think I've ever heard of it? Have to look it up.
The mission tonight actually went quite well all things considered... It wasn't a highly randomized mission- but there are a lot of things going on and cooperation was a must. I think a few of the choppers went in there pretty brazenly and to our advantage had most of the missile sites in the area expend all their ordinance. I was able to do some pretty hefty gun runs with Rider working the rockets and did some good damage. I was trying to help a huey out at one point, not sure that he knew I was making things blow up behind him or not- but then I lost track of him.
We kept working things over, thinking it was sanitized of a SAM threat- then that missile launch warning... ooooooooooooooooh that missile launch warning. One plucked Rider out of the sky and then it was a true knife fight in a phone booth... I didn't want to extend too far because an Osa was going to gobble me up... but I kept turning in just a bit too tight. I'd get padlocked (eyes focused, not the "cheat") but then lose the bastage in the trees as the HUD pillar crossed over... It's very disorientating. Finally after round 3 I got enough CM into him to take him out. Feeling pretty relieved about it, I continued to scan for more... and that Shilka was locking me up...
Uh oh.
Another SA9 site ambushed me... stripped everything off my aircraft- both engines... left wing... purse. Purse? Yeah- whatever. Anyway... I think that mission, with a little "randomizing" will be a hit- but we'll need to get a bit more organized. We need many heavies in there supporting the choppers- choppers dropping infantry in a variety of areas to deploy and crush infantry in a bunch of places... then we need to eliminate half the defensive force and support the Abbie offensive.
Can't wait to run it again when I get home!
Anyway- thanks to everyone for the good time out there. I really enjoyed the flight!
Man, too bad I wasn't able to join. Sounds like it was a lot of fun. I've specifically been learning the SU-25T for the purpose of running SEAD missions ahead of you guys. Under perfect conditions it can flatten a SAM from over 100km away.
Still rockin the Saitek X36F & X35T

This is bliss, no more fumbling around the cockpit and switching between F1 and ALT F1 mode.. (yeah I forgot to switch to ALT F1 before taking a pic, but it's friggen sweet)

Need some volunteers for a crash test party tomorrow evening / night. It's going to involve a bunch of empty air start positions and all I need anyone to do is push the nose down and crash in as spectacular a fashion as possible until the server crashes. If other reports are any indication it should take about 10 minutes. 20 if we run it twice. Then we'll carry on with the evening's festivities. Probably Mission 2 from the Geo Peach Campaign- possibly "Advance"- the one we did the other night.
I'll try to be in for the reload so if you see "Firehouse Crash Test Party" that means I should be watching over TeamViewer.
The suggestion is that people crashing is what causes the server to crash. Possibly the accumulation of debris- possibly some other thing... but it makes sense. Quite often I've noticed the server starts to act up as more and more people are blasted out the sky... I'm hoping it's a common denominator and with your help I also hope to help substantiate the issue.
One of the ED testors has asked for some help reproducing it and I'd like to provide them with that data. Any volunteers?
Dunno if I'll be off work early tomorrow, got 2 days worth of work to catchup on cuz when it snows, people here panic and close.
I worked in office for a hour or so today just until UPS showed up with my Delivery from NewEgg w/ My display Adapter,
After which I left to hit radio shack for a DVI Cable but they wanted $50 for a Dual Link Cable, Eff that, I had a Single link on my brother's system that I wasnt using at the time, So I swapped his screen from DVI to HDMI and took my DVI Cable up and shifted everything from 2nd Screen to 4th screen.
I'm still tweaking GFX Settings to maintain Smooth 30 FPS, so far I'm good until there's alot of Contrails or explosions.
Running from a Single HD7950, I might go for a R9-280 to XFire in a few months or a R9-290 by itself, I also havent re-instated my 1.1Ghz Overclock on my GPU since the last driver Update I did... some when 14.1 comes out I'll prolly try to up the MV and Core clock from 900 to 1100
I purposely ordered a FullDP to DVI Active Adapter as I know my next card will ahve FullDP and not mini DPs.
So right now I have MiniDP to Full DP to DVI for the 4th screen.

I have the crash test running now- I ran it during the day and Mustang was able to make it crash on his own but it admittedly took him a bit. I didn't think to start my performance monitor (RAM) that was recommended to me some time ago by Sith for another problem- so I'd like to run it one more time with a few people in there this time and see what happens.
If we can make it crash sooner than later, I'll post a mission instead.
SLMOD is turned off now so it's a free-for-all in there.
These are the nights that remind me of my introduction to SimHQ, and how the Firehouse (thanks to Crew for the name, actually) thread and server came to be.
I'd started up an "A-10 Late night" thread... for guys to come in when they were on late shift or up late- or up early depending on where they were in the world ... and just talk about anything... sort of an off topic thread with a background relating to DCS.
Sorry the Firehouse was down tonight- tonight is a great flying night. A brief report on what was found-
Mustang from ED Testors was talking about how he was quite certain he'd identified a bug that caused a server to crash as more debris built up across the battlefield from clients crashing into terrain... He had tested it on his own and made it happen, then someone else over on the ED forum tested it and was able to make it happen... so I offered the Firehouse to test it again.
He was able to make it crash 3 times in a row- and granted it wasn't just a matter of pulling a trigger and making it crash- he had to crash into terrain a pretty substantial number of times. Firing of the gun (I believe in any aircraft) when crashing cut the times in half. I compiled the logs / tracks and all three reports have been submitted.
Anyway, I ended up having to go into work and it got busy here and I wasn't able to get the server up again. By the time I launched it, it was almost 9pm MST.
My problem with the rift is the keyboard access that we need for flight sims that have more stuff than can fit on a HOTAS. I don't know how that is gonna work.
Fridge ---------- Things which do you no good in aviation: 1) Altitude above you; 2) Runway behind you; 3) Fuel in the truck; 4) The airspeed you don't have.

Just a Noob
Having tried the Rift, I'm pretty skeptical it'll work for complex flight sims like A-10C, Falcon 4, etc., where being able to look at the keyboard or external docs (notes, maps, briefing package, etc.), even just for a moment, is required for the full effect.
Games where you never have to take your eyes off the monitor or hands off controls *will* rock. I haven't played War Thunder or World of Warplanes myself, but I expect the Rift will be awesome with those games. At last year's E3, Eve Online had a special multiplayer spacefighter combat game that was based around the Rift that was amazing to fight and fly. Maybe Rise of Flight or IL2 BoS, where cockpit interaction can be more limited or performed with controls you can easily discriminate by feel (throttle quadrant, etc.).
Great potential, but until I get a full home cockpit, I don't see myself being able using to use a Rift in the games I love.
Shoot to Kill. Play to Have Fun.

Later in the evening, Rider and ShuRugal both ended up commiting fratricide on the same Huey. We were flying over the AO looking for targets and ended up just following the Huey's gunner's tracers. Rider's incident occurred when firing a AGM-65D at a target, which impacted just as the Huey was flying over that very vehicle - did not appear to be major damage. The Huey Pilot was not in TS3, I was in some communication with them but I do not believe they knew everyone was following them. ShuRugal's incident came later, killing that same Huey pilot - while Shu was in a Ka-50. This time the Huey LANDED amongst the formation of vehicles. Due to obstruction of trees, he appeared to be another vehicle of the group and Shu sent a few rockets his way. I would like to note, the Huey's landing in the TZ was NOT announced.
He inquired as to why a Huey would land in an enemy formation that is actively being engaged and the response was that troops had to be dropped off THAT close to activate a trigger. At this point, everyone was following the Huey's, they suggested we help them. Apologies were made, conversation wasn't bitter by any means. Just another live and learn incident!

u have inspired me to potentially have me install A-10C.
what do you recommend me to do, i have a machine with 17-980x 16GB Ram (2x) Nvidia GTX580 i have 6 22" LCDs, a 23", and a 20" i also have a matrox triplehead2go box, i think i saw someone else that has your similar setup who was running nvidia cards that he used a TH2G box ( i see u have AMD gfx in your specs)
you look like u have amazing FPS running.. really awesome
