Been a little light on over the Festive Season so here is something we at BG ANZAC did in early November.
Its a training activity focused on developing an Engagement Area and using the best weapons to the best effect to maximise their characteristics and most importantly when out numbered not engaging one target with two platforms (vehicle, missile, etc.).
We ran it twice, once with just the missiles and a second run with just the tanks. Normally of course they would provide mutual support to each other.
The idea being to show how you should array your weapons to make best use of their ranges, with ATGMs hitting the furthest out targets, then the tanks joining as the range decreased and they could help with the closer in work and finally using both plus artillery when the attacker was hung up on a obstacle.
In addition we worked on target designation so a target wasn't hit by both missile fire and sabot (when only one or the other was needed). When the enemy has a quantitative superiority you need to ensure you don't waste rounds.
Part 1 was a bit of "ATGM Training" focusing on the new more realistic / more complex Javelin and the Spike.
H Hour - The full strength Soviet Tank Battalion enters the EA (start reading your Tennyson):
H+8 - The EA starts to earn its name:
H+11 - The CO joins in doing it "old school" getting a hit at just over 4,000m (4,320m):
But at the delivery end, the place is a mess:
H+20 - The Battalion is no more, effective strength 0 tanks (far worse than the Light Brigade):
I believe Brian has some YouTube footage of one of his Spike shots here:
Part 2 removed the ATGMs (note they are now in dead ground) and had just the tanks using cross and depth fire to ensure the enemy presented a flank to one Troop or the other.
H+4 - Poor fire discipline results in callsign 12 engaging targets early (outside the EA):
"Target rich environment":
Good mutual support means that no matter which way the Soviets go they are exposing a flank (or worse) to M1 fire:
H+20 and the result is the same as the earlier ATGM engagement:
SITREP: Call signs 9, 11 and 12 taskworthy. Conducting ammunition resupply, available for further tasking.

Well a neighbour to our near North did buy half the ex East German navy.
Perhaps some of the tank landing ships were still full?
