A couple of pizzas from Pizza Hut. Easy call for me to order The Fokker Scourge, but I am also fortunate that I am in a place where that kind of money doesn't cause me any troubles to spend. Obviously everybody is in their own situation and I respect that. Being that I can afford it with no worries, I was happy to purchase it and am glad that I did even though I'm not usually into the 1915 planes.
I did it mostly for the same reason Spinkick did it. If we keep the "lights on" at OBD, then maybe someday we will have Gotha bombers and Zeps in the sim...and other cool planes or features that I haven't even thought of yet. Frankly, after the 1.11 patch, WOFF is more than everything I had hoped for in the sim, both in terms of features and performance.
As for Developer support, it's only been a little over a month since WOFF released and we've had 12(!!!)patches and the first add-on pack - The Fokker Scourge - released. Talk about fantastic developer support? OBD takes the Gold Medal. I concurr completely so did the same. These guys deserve the support because they do it for the love of the sim.

I see you're a fan of strafing stricken aircraft. Hellshade, did you by chance later go on to join Jasta 18 in 1918? If so, we shall need to have some words the next time our aircraft meet.
...I'd probably just get shot down and strafed again.

I was going to add an EIII pilot to my current stable when I had a horrible RB3D flashback- me dodging and trying to run from Nieuports in my frail, underpowered Einie!
Maybe I should get some stick time first. ahh but in the Fokker Scourge you fly E Is and E IIs with no Nieuports to be found anywhere for months. Just Morane L Saulners and other prey! Of course, after the N11s show up, things get a bit difficult and running away becomes the better part of valor until you finally get something newer to fly.

Alright Hellshade, be honest. How often do you collide with your prey? Seems like in almost every one of your vids you make such a close pass I'm sure you're a goner. But then you aren't. It happens, but it is very rare. I just seem to have a knack...most of the time. Of course once would be all it takes in real life.

I had to look up what the "blip" was. Wow, crazy, but now I get that command in the workshop. Thanks Lanz! At least I get the technical term, how is it meant to be used in actual flight? You blip the engine when you want to maintain a speed or an altitude level, for example?

So I just joined a fighter squadron with an EII and did a mission watching the autopilot fly a bit to get a feel for how to best fly the aircraft (since I'm so rusty at flight sims) and while trying to stay in formation, the autopilot went from, like 100% on the engine to idle and back again like, over and over. Is this normal behavior on how to fly this thing? I had to look up what the "blip" was. Wow, crazy, but now I get that command in the workshop. Thanks Lanz! At least I get the technical term, how is it meant to be used in actual flight? You blip the engine when you want to maintain a speed or an altitude level, for example? Some of the first rotary engines like on the E.I through E.III didn't have a throttle at all. They were either full on or full off. So the only way they could figure out how to slow down was to interrupt the ignition (ie: the "Blip Switch"). So to fly the Fokker E series full real you would never use your throttle, just your Blip Switch to slow down. But be careful as if you hold it down too long it will kill your engine and there's nobody up there to spin your prop to start it again The blip switch was usually just tapped for a second or two over and over again to slow down, so for instance when landing it would be tap, tap, tap as you're descending which results in the famous brrup, brrup, brrup, brrup sound you hear as old restored rotary planes land at an airshow. I'm sure somebody else better versed in rotaries could tell us which planes had only blip switches vs those that had a partial throttle in addition to the blip switch. I think the DR1 came out first with only a blip switch and then later with a partial throttle also, so it was later in the war when they had something more than a blip switch on the rotaries. I'm guessing the Nieuport 11 only had a blip switch, and maybe even the Nieuport 16 and 17. Hope someone else can add to this info...

Here is a good thread on blip switches. I guess they could throttle down partially, and then used the blip switch to slow down further: Blip Switch

Be careful with that Blip switch in any rotary aircraft. If you overdo it, it will cause problems. Pay attention to your engine; if you hear anything that doesn't sound good, cut engine power and make an emergency landing at the nearest field. Odds are your engine won't be able to make full power, and it could die on you. If you're really unlucky, the fuel could catch fire and kill you. That's why you need to cut the engine and keep it off as much as possible until you land, which you need to do ASAP.
I lost a 30 hour pilot to an engine fire in a Camel due to mismanaging the blip switch. Don't let it happen to you'
