That's how I use it, Lou. Works great, finally I can orientate at least in that sector.

Very well done, sir.

Thanks,

Greetings All,

The first update to my Verdun mapping project is now available and it has expanded on the original quite a bit. Based on feedback, (primarily from 77_Scout, and thanks for all of it), the following has been done:

Increased the size of the various symbols
Added in the railways and depots
Added outlines to the lakes in the wooded areas for better contrast
Added basic footprints of the larger cities as seen from the air
Miscellaneous corrections and adjustments to original map section

I will be filling in the missing corners and pushing to the east next to include Nancy, however that will be a bit down the road, (pun intended), as I intend to just fly some campaign missions this weekend.

As before, any and all feedback will be much appreciated as will any corrections that anyone happens to note during their flights navigating from this map.

Enjoy!

Lou

Fantastic work Lou. LOVE IT!

The railways and yards are a sweet addition. Thanks for all your work on this.

I am loving the map more and more with every use. My only problem now is that I refuse to fly a campaign in any of the other theatres because I am spoiled by this Verdun map!!

Good to learn the Verdun map is still proving useful. If all goes well I will be doing additional work on it this coming week to add in the SE corner to include Nancy. So many things to do, so little time.

Good Morning All,

I had some time this week to work on my WOFF Verdun Map project and am posting the latest update. I've filled in the SE corner and gone east past Luneville. I have created more detailed footprints for the large cities and have taken out the dotted line indicating the front, (as it changes and our RL counterparts had to pencil in this bit of info themselves on their cockpit maps). There are also more towns and forest names added, primarily to serve as an aid when filling out your AAR and claim forms. Over the next week or two I will push to the north towards Luxemburg and work on completing the NE corner of the map.

Again, any and all feedback will be much appreciated as will any corrections that anyone happens to note during their flights navigating from this map.

Enjoy!

Lou

Ah, so it is indeed there... smile
Not sure how many people know it but Lac du Der-Chantecoq (which is also a popular place in ROF multiplayer) didn't really exist in WWI. It is relatively modern artificial lake - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lake_Der-Chantecoq

PS: I don't mind having it there, just wanted to share this curiosity.

Good Morning All,

It has been crazy here the last couple of weeks between work and the weather but I did manage to find the odd moments to continue with my WOFF Verdun Map project. It is now a relatively complete rectangle with the NE corner going beyond Luxemburg. I've added in still more towns and forest names for reference and made numerous little corrections to various stretches of roadways and rail lines. I have the entire procedure nicely dialed in at this point and while it is still very time consuming the final results are now far more accurate with corrections becoming almost non-existent, (almost).

As always, any and all feedback will be much appreciated as will any corrections that anyone happens to note during their flights navigating from this map.

Oh, and Lanzfeld, you'll want to get started on that Flanders Map if you want it anytime soon. winkngrin

Enjoy!

Lou

Excellent. Btw, how do you print it? Not one A4 page I presume... Split it into 2 A4s and then glue together?

I think the Verdun map is more than perfect now, so, would you, please, continue with Flanders region? notworthy
