They are definitely rare in this build. I cleaned out all the houses on Raner Boulevard and none of them had any potatoes.

I will plant a few seeds during my next session and make sure those germinate to build up a stock of seeds before expanding the garden to include a potato section.

Seems I was wrong about my earlier comments regarding the corn tops not germinating.

From what it appears, none of the plants grow if there is no human presence on the server. They stay stunted until someone logs onto the server.

So far, the hunting's been good around my place. I still have to go out to adjoining biomes to bag more than one animal but I don't need to travel far before getting game. Often I get 2 deers, 2 pigs. Pigs are definitely a choice animal to hunt. They often drop about 10 slabs of pork per animal and grilled pork does not not dehydrate and has better or comparable health/fullness stats compared to grilled venison. Bacon & Eggs even better as a super food. No smell listed on the stats and a whopping +20 Health/+30 Fullness.

Aside from the Snow biome, there's a small blueberry farm behind that house on 73 at the Plains Biome North of my place and immediate below the bridge. I have clean it out.

Hordes have been frequent. They walk right over my entrance but nothing molested thus far after I build everything flush into the hillside.

Finally came to the realization that everything in the server stops when the last person logs out. It seems the only thing that keeps moving is the in-game Day counter.

That means if you are the last person on and you have a campfire going when you log out, the wood will resume burning from where you left it when you log back in. Plants will stop growing until someone comes onto the server.

Kinda threw me off because I thought things will automatically grow given that the game days continue to run without anyone onboard.

That said, we are swimming in potatoes. Once I got two 13-block rows planted (2 plants per block), it's a bumper harvest. Potatoes give better yield and at a faster rate than any crop in the game. Stocked up to 500+ potatoes now.

The replanting bit is no big deal. You just pluck the crop from the ground and immediately sow a seed back to the vacant spot. Doesn't even take half a second. Don't know why so many d!ckheads at the 7 Days forum complain about replanting. People are stupid and lazy.

Well it seems that people get real upset at changes even though they know its an alpha. The only thing that gets me is having to start over...again and again. With that said though I do enjoy the building aspect so its not that bad...I just hate having to search for those damn books all over again.

Things I would really like:
* I would like more defense options. I want to build above ground but when you are by yourself the maintenance is brutal. This will really be critical when they improve the AI.
* I want flood lights to mount on the walls that I can flip on to slow the zombies down during attack. Maybe the generator agros all visible zombies in.
* For us single person bases, I would love to be able to back a side of it up to some impassable obstruction. Like a lake or a mountainside. Now I only have to defend a couple of approaches.
* I want a bike to move around more quickly. I don't mind exploring the world but the new map that is upcoming is going to be huge.
* I want a spear. Makes defending the wall easier.

For #%&*$# and giggles: I want a heavy machinegun emplacement. Lootable from the military base. Sounds fun to mo down a running horde at night.

It seems like one of my crates glitched on me and reset itself. It was the one I was storing all of my ammo crafting stuff in. I lost a ton of crap. I hope this bug isn't recurring.

I found 3 Leather Tanning Books.

I read one and kept the other 2 for you and Snappy but I kept them on my character....just in case any of those storage crates reset again, though I have not seen this bug with my stuff.

Finally, we are able to craft leather and sew those iron clothing

That may be so, however the map is large and you tore up but a small section.

Gravetown. I have been making incursions there for the last 3 sessions. I found one in a desksafe and I found the other 2 also in another desksafe but they were located in 2 separate buildings. Found a SMG schematic too and sh1tload of weapons. A bunch of ammo crafting books too but I'm still missing the literature for shotgun shells.

Nearly got killed by those dang dogs. Lesson learnt. Don't be stingy with those shotgun rounds when you are getting rushed by a pack of dogs. I tried to be smart and picked them off with the crossbow. Got two but the third closed up and personal. Down to last thimble of blood before I despatched the sucker with the shottie.

I'm decked out in a full complement of iron armour now. Gonna Skyrim their a$$es

Our base is pretty much zombie proof at the moment. It is a 18x8 building with a 5x5xContinuous trench dug out around it made by 3 block thick reinforced concrete walls. The trench is filled with wood pillar points and barbed wire. We took on 3 hoards last night and not a single zombie reached the interior wall to start attacking it.

Guess it is time for a new base.

Set your zombies to Feral. I am curious to see how long your fort holds out. Not saying it won't, just curious.

I need to update my server to 8.6 but I am pretty much just holding out til 9.0 when we are supposed to get random world generation.

Sorry for the delay. My server is now running 8.6 with the same saved world.

No worries. I have not been on for a couple of days. A whole bunch of other stuff to attend to.

200% block durability probably had some role in all that.

Probably, but also 200% means your tools last 1/2 as long. So it took twice as much materials to build the same thing.

Im not sure. I reset the BD to 100% and played around a bit last night and honestly it seems easier with the BD set at 1/2 as tough.

There was an airdrop on the server when I played yesterday. 3 crates, mostly weapons and ammo. Shotgun shell recipe book. 143 cobblestones. A bunch of bottled water. Glass panes.

Snappy was flagged by Steam as in-game but I was alone in the game world. Must have parked himself in the lobby.

Yeah, so this last load I left the airdrops in every 24 hours just to see what it is like. I think I can also modify the chances something shows up in it but Im hoping they add options for that instead of having to fool around in the XML.

I think I inadvertently took everything out of that with a button press and failed to put it back.

When I last logged in, I had a very full inventory! I put it all back.

Alpha 9 is slated for early august. When it goes live I will put my dedicated server back up. Random worlds, sweet.

Ok so day 1: built a small tower overlooking a huge expanse of water. No houses visible yet. Sprained my leg and currently suffering from dysentery. Day 2 has to be better.
