I'd love to have our regular group find an open game we could work as a survival, resource gathering, base building, defend against the known and unknown.

They actually all look pretty good. I will be picking up Dayz soon. May grab the others in the future once they are closer to'done' and/or a little cheaper.

I'm definitely going to be getting DayZ StandAlone soon too, this one is already being played by a few SimHQ folks and I think we would enjoy it.

The others I will pickup if you guys are going to pick one or more of them up, I watched Mac's channel and they both looked decent.

I own that one, and it is fun. Been in development for quite a while.

DayZ is probably a given as the main game.

I've been watching Rust on Markiplier and it's more and more impressive. Mack's channel makes 7 Days looks really good, but has that blocky Minecraft look and crazy nights. Rust is more survival and stashing away from other players, but does have some Z's in irradiated areas.
Rust being $20 full price, 7 Days on "sale" for $27....that battle goes to Rust IMO.

I've got $50 in steam credits burning a hole in my pocket and $50 worth of games not on a steam sale during the steam sale. Bastids!
Can't think of anything else coming up, guess I'll pull the trigger on DayZ and Rust. I hate this early crap, but I'm curious.

PZ is supposed to become multiplayer sometime down the road.

I also have Project Zomboid (had it on Desura for a while and recently they gave me a Steam key too), fun game but no multiplayer.

Saw PZ and didn't think I could get into it. Just going too far back graphically. LOL
Will have to keep an eye on DL.

Tried Rust earlier, but all servers were down. Not sure why, but I'll assume it's nothing catastrophic.
Day Z I just couldn't launch, no idea why.

I just got DayZ SA and have been enjoying it. It's in alpha so I hope it can only get better. As for Rust, I have been looking at that for some time now and been debating whether or not to buy it or not.

DayZ still crashed on me. Seemed to get further after deleting Arma2 and the DayZ mod, but I don't know.
Rust isn't bad so far. Figured out some of the crafting, put my rock to use getting some wood for fires, killed some animals for food and clothing. Funny that you can get chicken from pigs and deer. I guess it all tastes like chicken.
Ran through an irradiated base and grabbed some stuff, but died of hunger before I figured out the cooking system. A few more seconds and I'd have lived. Progress doesn't seem too bad, but then I was on a non-PVP server.

I've got them all; DayZ, Rust, 7 Days to Die, The Dead Linger, Nether and Project Zomboid and would buy another if it came out as I love these games! I like seeing them progress through their dev cycle.

DayZ is top of the list for me though.

For me 7 days looks kind of neat. A minecraft gets a point game.

I have watched a review of rust by Mack and he was not overly impressed at this point but that could have been clouded by the absolutely toxic community he was playing on.

I don't usually play multiplayer survival games but they look pretty fun. Let me know what y'all think and I'll snatch up a few.

Ran Day Z some today, no issues getting into a server. Not sure what the conflict was with Arma2/DayZ mod, but it seems sorted out. Ran very well other than alt-tab to try to set up my mouse and G13 controls---which is understandable at this point.
As with the mod, I ran around for 30 minutes, finally found houses/buildings to search and found absolutely NOTHING. Interestingly enough though, also no Z's whatsoever. Seems like I read somewhere that there aren't as many z's and loot is more scarce than in the mod, but this was a bit ridiculous. Not bad for trying to get used to the controls though.
I'll keep at it, but so far Rust has been more interesting due to the crafting, even if I haven't gotten far. There's always something to do or work on besides just running around and hoping to get lucky.

Picked up DayZ.

Just got in to get used to the controls.

Maybe join up for some gaming tonight later?

I picked up DayZ on Christmas. As for loot and zombie issues... atm loot and zombies only spawn at server restarts and those happen about every 3-4hrs. Its totally playable but does have some issues (its an alpha). Been having a lot of fun with it the last couple nights! Post your steam name in the thread under the DayZ forum here so we can all link up, the SHQ crowd leans heavily and helping their buddies.

And to add loot spawns just about everywhere (there are some areas it does not) so if you find a lack of loot, look for another server.

I caved in and bought State of Decay when it was on sale; but only a few hours into it I've realized it's such a poor console port that I'm not even sure it was worth $10

Probably going to get DayZ in the near future, and RUST is looking promising; but I'm getting weary of "early access" games.
