Yeah, I heard guys coming across direct communication as i was playing just now. And to make it worse, one of them was hot-micing. Very irritating. There must be something wrong with the direct VOIP chat where pople;s ranges aren't being limited by disatance.

Aside form that, it looks great. Found an M4 already but found no ammo before i was taken out by a zombie.

You seem to get thirsty really fast though. As well, I wasn't able to make bandages out of clothing.

This is great news can't wait to check it out, hope I don't have to wait until Christmas. And I wish I can download now but no money for games ATM.

I've got a bad feeling about this.....

Woa, impressive trailer! (Except for the ending, that was a little over the top for my liking.)

I'm looking forward for the first reports.

I was very apprehensive about getting into a buggy alpha. I watched some streaming last night tho (Sacriel, remember that guy from the early days? He streams games as a fulltime job now, gah!) and I was pretty impressed with how playable it was. Certainly didnt look much worse than playing the mod was.

Also thinking about how DayZ went downhill once it was flooded with mainstream CoD/battlefield players. It might actually be more fun now than at full release.

We might have to get the old SimHQ crew together again!

I'm building a new watercooled PC right now, will probably give things a few days to shake out before I decide to purchase. If we have an active SimHQ group, I'm in.

I grabbed it yesterday and walked around a bit. I'm gonna have to adjust my controls a bit as the mouse movement seemed very disconnected.

It's fun but there is still a lot of content missing and much is buggy.

They still have a lot of work to do.

In the controls section I dropped my mouse smoothing down to about 10% and it feels a lot better. If you drop it all the way though the game feels jittery.

You cant seem to turn mouse acceleration off yet which is annoying.

Yeah, I did the same thing. The controls felt very laggy, but reducing the mouse smoothing sorted it out.

One thing that bothers me (and has always bothered me about ArmA games) is the clunky movement. I hate that if from a standing start you go to sprint, there's that half second of delay - almost as if the character is winding up - before the movement actually starts. That makes the game feel extremely unwieldy, and diminishes my sense of control over my character. I wish they would address that.

Strange thing is, yesterday, I tried screwing with the Configure/Controls/"Acceleration" on/off feature (while also tinkering with the other settings) and while it didn't seem to change to "off" in the GUI, I could have sworn that the clunky running acceleration disappeared. But then after quitting and starting the game later, it seemed to be back to the clunky version. I'm not 100% sure if that wasn't all in my imagination mind you.

But yeah, I hope that gets addressed. The clunky movement (in all the ArmA series games) gives the player the sense that they're not in direct control of their character, rather they're sending friendly requests to the character and the character gets around to executing the request when he feels like it. This kills immersion by making the player feel like he's not fuzed with his in-game character at all.

Ahh CLOD never in the history of Simming has so much been promised and so little given.

However I want to thank Team Fusion for keeping the Dream Alive.

Does anyone know where we report bugs? I always crash after hearing random people spewing crap over the mic.

I think you have to create an account.

As well, here are their instructions for submitting bugs:

I might be able to purchase this today, from the videos I've been seeing it looks plenty playable almost comparable to the early mod days. I look forward to messing with the new features and interface and of course contributing to the final product with hopefully valuable feedback.

I just made it to NWAF a few mins ago. And on arrival, I had the unfortunate dilemma of choosing whether to drop my M4/Aimpoint for a mosin with long range scope. I went for the latter, ending up looking like this.

My large rucksack is full of food, water bottles and some odds and sods. I have a pistol, 18 rounds (no magazine mind you) about 40 rounds for my rifle. So at this point, I'd call the game playable. The food/drink thing is irritating, but manageable.

Now, to do some sniping wink

Loving it, a lot better than the mod even at this stage. Hoping Rocket sticks to his guns and we don't see all of the mega militarised, 1000 vehicle servers. Lots of tears on both the forums and at Reddit about the lack of loot and dying of thirst biggrin Time for the kiddies to get away from the coast.

Nice run Chris, i scampered about with the m4a1 last night for about 45 minutes, found two empty magazines and then died of thirst while i was on Skype sorting out my partner. I took a chance on a rotten banana ..no joy.

My first character got axed to death whilst I was crawling through a hole in a wall lol so I started a new one and spawned near the small airbase near the south coast. Found a large backpack, an axe, pistol but no ammo, ballistic helmet and then moved towards the tower and someone says 'don't come closer or I'll shoot' so I back up and he asks 'are you friendly' I am so we go our separate ways and meet again towards the top of the base and stop and talk out a building. A shot ricochets off the wall nearby and we both scatter, me behind the building and him inside but he gets shot. I ran away into the forest.

I think I'm near Cherno and was heading there but ate a rotten banana so will probably die soon.

biggrin loving this game.
