WM We needed a modern "Red Baron/II/3D", something comprehensive and historical at the same time as playable. RB wanted to put people in the WW1 environment, not just have them fly planes around. WOFF does it nicely and the series is the successor to the old RB set. It does the early war element well too now. At some point you get over flying Spad XIIIs vs D.VIIs all the time and want more variety. I flew a quick combat in a M-S L Type vs E.IIIs last night. Suddenly it's not about zooming at 130 mph, but about wrangling to get that rear gunner lined up at 80 mph. That's the moment when you start to realize everything the books said about the E.III being a scourge was actually true. That moment when what you've read about becomes more real is golden.

I was feeling the burn of the Albatros advantage in early 1917. Hard to keep them off my tail in many of the available RFC aircraft of the time. Also the weak wings of the Nieuports have been quite scary. Ripped off a few already! Makes me think the reports of their structural weaknesses haven't been stressed enough in documentaries.

Mission to Patrol our front in which I was quickly trounced upon by German two seaters. It happened so fast I didn't get a close enough look at them to clearly identify. I was kind of not paying close attention while I let auto pilot fly the mission and I should have taken control back sooner. Leaving home airfield Gaining altitude for first leg Enemy two seaters appear Shot up properly when passing over them so had to return to base

They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old: Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn. At the going down of the sun and in the morning We will remember them.
