The popup ads at the bottom of every screen was one thing. Now, I bring up SimHQ and am automatically re-directed to the Apple App store for some stupid game. I understand ads pay the bills, but this is getting ridiculous.

SimHQ is blocked at work, so I use my iphone there. At home I use my PC.

The paradox is that ads might keep this site alive at the same time that they kill it.

The guys have bills to pay but I wish we could find another way. The alternative is membership fees but if I understand correctly that is not an option.

I moan about the ads- I really can understand a certain level- but get to a certain point and I'd rather pay 30 bucks a year or so for a clean, QUIET experience.

I don't have an issue when i'm at home on my PC. Only when I use my phone at work. (SimHQ is blocked at work). SimHQ is probably the only site I would pay a fee to use.

Yeah I'm in the same iOS boat the popup ads make it hard choice, be very annoyed and support the site, or block the ads and don't support the site,I'm hoping they come up with a supporter ad-free option.

So are these supposed to be showing if you're logged in?? I'm increasingly less likely to visit the site on my phone, and that's where I do most of my browsing.

Edit:

I'm afraid to even type this, but I've cleared my browser cookies and data and things seem to be better. As in fixed.

I'm beginning to think that this isn't a website issue, but more of an Apple issue. Sites that I frequent (from my phone) which use no ads for revenue are also plague with that redirect to the App Store for some random app...

I don't wish to use the Adblock function in my phone browser, but now that the banner is back, I will. It takes up almost 20% of the screen, and keeps moving up and down as I scroll, too annoying to tolerate.

It's back for me now too. They've managed to make it more annoying by making it appear fixed.

It is definitely a website Ad provider issue and you will see it on websites like SimHQ that choose to use that Ad provider, they check your browser version 'user agent string' and then use some specific ios ads for the Safari web client.

On my jaibroken iPhone using Safari I see the annoying Ads, then if I use a jaibreak hack to change my Safari 'user agent string' to report it's version as IE then they don't show up.

They also don't show up if you use a iOS web browser that does ad-blocking, which sadly is what I have resorted to on my iPad2 which is not jailbroken and so I can't make it fake itself as IE.

Hopefully at some point SimHQ will provide us iOS users a way to support the site without having to block these annoying ads.

Sadly my phone isn't JB and I'd rather not have to but my lord this is driving me more crazy than I think any other thing I've experienced on the net. Its freaking awful. Close it, assuming it doesn't open to dragon loser quest in the App Store, and it comes back next thread you load. I have no issue with side ads I just wish these would die. I like iOS Safari since I'm used to it but for now I'm limiting visits here or using a browser just for SimHQ. Grrrr!

My understanding was that the ads come up for those not logged in. Stay logged in and you shouldn't get them.

Unfortunately they come if you are logged in too... actually if logged in people got normal ads and the aggressive popup/hover ads were only for guests that would be great.

But that is not the case unfortunately, the only thing saving you Raw is the Ad provider SimHQ uses hasn't figured out how to do the annoying ads in whatever Android browser version you are using when on your mobile or tablet... for iOS they definitely figured out the annoying way to make the ads most visible even when we are logged in.
