Looking great XIII!

Actually I've been wondering when someone would made a cockpit for the Mi-8/17. Guess that this answers my question. It's definitely great addition for EECH!
IMO this cockpit will be very useful for my latest campaign in Libya (where most of the helicopters present are composed by Mi-24s and Mi-8s).

Brilliant, nice to see another cockpit being added. I know it's a slow process, so good luck.

Par me for asking.

I don't mean to hijack this thread nor am I trying to discredit XIII from his hard work.

Wasn't someone making an MI-24 cockpit where everything in it was clickable with the mouse?

Who was it and what's the progress on it?

What's in the box? C'mon, what's in the boooox?

I also have a problem for a few days.I always worked this way, and there was no problem.
In ramdisk Unpack packed files \textures and \objects.
I have several projects, each packed with a different name and path access.
From a few dozen days one project can not find a suitable path and files.Indicates the path indicates a file, the file is in there. lw  again looking for the next file which is there.I have all files as bmp and tga, also their is not find, EVEN IF THERE are and lw see them.

I thought that something of lw,I installed even different versions, it did not work.
add that without a problem worked so many months. With different directories.
Lw ask where is the texture, I show to the directory. And lw automatically loads all other textures.
It has always been.Now-I shows first the texture, and lw can not see the next even if it is there.I'm totally pissed off, maybe someone has some idea wtf ?If not,I also gives up. Sorry for my english .
edit : example :

This file IS as  fo.bmp, and fo.tga.LW can not find it banghead

I had same problems sometimes. fist what I noticed - LW can't load BMP automatically, so you need to point it by hands every file. solution - use tga instead.
and you can try to place textures of all projects in one folder - every time when you load textures form other place some string in LW is changed and next time you will have a troubles. so, I didn't solve any of this problems, I'm just avoiding them.

Very nice. Do any of the dials work? That's pretty quick work. Maybe we should team up to finish my blackhawk, as I'm useless at texturing. I could finish the frame.

The trouble I was having is finding good textures. I could pay to join the airliners site, and get higher resolution images, but they would still need some work. I need to finish the cockpit model first then work on the textures. It's all slow progress as I can't work on it every day.

I found these images while looking for some other reference material. I think it's a different cockpit, with some MFDs. Not sure of the variant.

I would not want to make it mouse control in the EECH, I prefer the keyboard

not possible, therefore it is better as a EECH

I do not know how you can be so much to learn switches in the game, you have to be probably the real pilot

Of course it's not so easy to learn about every switch and knob, but now I'm interesting in controls only.
how do you think such complicated avionics can be controlled with keyboard only? groups of actions combined on one key (electric for example - one key turning on all power generators and consumers), or just one key "make it damn heli fly!" (like in DCS ka-50).

I was thinking about this. We could have a cut down version of manual startup. Like circuit breakers already on, instruments already switched on, then you manually do apu start, fuel, engine start etc like in the hind.

I think a clickable cockpit can work fine, providing you aren't required to use the mouse to operate the most frequently used or vital controls. You don't want to have to mess around clicking on the fire extinguisher switch, for instance, or the CM dispenser controls, but for the first bits of startup (i.e. connecting the electrical systems, activating the fuel pumps and valves, maybe making adjustments to instruments if you build that in), mouse control works fine. It's just no very good when flying, because you have to stop concentrating on the vital tasks (flying, not getting hit, attacking targets, etc) in favour of tracking the mouse around the cockpit. Doesn't seem too hard to use to me - combine it with the existing EECh controls and you're onto a winner.

<Insert witty sig block here>

This would be better instead of clicking the mouse on the touch screen, it would be even more realistic so think so, and very interesting ahoy
