Great shots. I'm having a blast with the F-4 and Thud stuff. Man, this game could be AMAZING with a few more features; Multiplayer, air refueling, slightly better FM, the ability to look back with track IR, etc.

I'm not sure but I think you can edit some sort of config file so you can look around behind better with track IR.

You have to go into the XXX_cockpit.ini file for each aircraft you want to change and change the values associated with "YawLimit=" or something like that. The number is the degrees from straight ahead where you can no longer look any further. IIRC there's a + and - value.

Ya. Here is one example:

Quote:
...
MaxYaw=152
MinYaw=-152
...

So 180 and -180 would let you look all the way behind you from either side. I don't know how realistic that is strapped into an ejection seat with a helmet on, though.

Oh awesome, I'll try it out. Thanks!

If you complain even just one more time about not being able to play flight simulators because you have to fly in real life, I'll report you to a moderator!

I'm loving this more than anything I've flown I think. It's really brought me back into flightsims. I'm 4 missions into rolling thunder 65 flying the scooter. I've yet to encounter any sams but I've taken two migs out wink

So sad that TK/thirdwire is not making SF series anymore, now they just make those stupid android/ios #%&*$# frown

Bit more tuning and SF series would be perfect med fidelity sim,

-Ability to slew mav and tv weapons (that hit e to cyle trough tanks is bit too simple even for light sim)

-Bit better dot system so enemy fighters would be visually bit easier to see from far without labels. (this was weird thing to make light sim, harder to spot targets than DCS or BMS ?? )

-haukka81

I5 8400 , 16gb , GTX 1070 oc , Win10 64bit . Virpil T-50 27" monitor with 2560x1440 rez ... DCS + Oculus CV1 + Samsung Odyssey . (odyssey is better for flight sims)

Which mod gives you the SAM exhaust trails?

The exhaust in the A-6 screens is from the SF2V Air and Ground Expansion Pack. I would be surprised if the latest version of Stary's effects doesn't have something similar as well.

Yeah.. Love it when I see an SA-2 launch.. It's nice to finally be able to see missiles coming at me instead of what happens in most sims where I just get smoked (realistic I'm sure) without a clue.. <g>

Wow..look at the course adjustments on that thing.. Would have been awesome to see what it looked like from the parachute/decoy/target or whatever.. (someone donate a GoPro to them!)

Okay, these shots has me interested in this series again. I have the original Strike Fighters - Project 1 disk but it does not install under Win7 x64 OS. Where do I purchase the "latest" version and what mods are recommended (please provide site)? Thank you.

SF2 is an awesome sim in so many ways. It's a real shame it looks like it's been abandoned by the developer.

Here's some shots I've had laying around for a while.

It's the Mirage Factory F/A-18A in a well modded, fully merged, SF2 install. I've recently been working on assembling a set of mods to extend the game to 1985.

Yes. It's from the Desert v4 terrain, with the Mountain Regions addon. Both at combatace.

I second this bump tomcat

Might be time to dust the ol' girl off for some action on my 4k 42" screen biggrin

Plus, my recent outings with Cold Waters have reminded me that the "shallow depth, wide breadth" type of sim can be the most fun of all. Kind of like driving "slow car fast", if you know what I mean.

I just wish somewhere along the line some semblance of A2A refueling had been implemented. Nothing super advanced, just a "fly near the tanker and your tanks are topped off", so that operations can at least logistically align more realistically (ie modern combat isn't restricted to WWII style "drink what you brought" style of loadout). A proper review tool would be wonderful for screenshots as well!

Search through posts by "Mue" over at combatace. He posted some files that let you turn the labels (normally visible with HUD mode set to easy) into small dots. The user can select the color (I set mine to black) and they're visible up to 10 miles away. It makes air combat possible and fun without the use of all the arcade style visual aids! It's what inspired me to reinstall the series.

Here you can see a distant dogfight just to the right of the right mirror, and then a little further to the right still just above the horizon.
