I'm sure a few of you use Helios alongside DCS A10C or Black Shark or maybe even FC3!

Can someone please tell me what the install path is now for the games? To check, open up the Helios Profile Editor, load the profile you have that is working, click on the DCS Black Shark or DCS A10C tab, and there should be an entry that says "Black Shark Setup" and underneath that, there is a box beside the words Install Path.

Please tell me what is in the box.

I've tried "E:\DCS World\bin" and also "E:\DCS World\Mods\aircrafts\Ka-50\bin", none of which works.

Help!!

Can anyone tell me what's supposed to be in the Install Path entry? Thanks!

This is a crappy response with no answer but I had the same issue a while back getting A10C to work when they switched to the world setup. If I remember which path it is I'll post it up since it has to be similar to A10. Have you tried posting this at the ED forums? I know a lot more Helios users are over there.

I've got a bad feeling about this.....

Don't bother with that step just get this file and place it in the apropriate place.
Some Helios functions are not working well with present DCS update but this is what we have at the moment

I did post in the ED forums. No joy there.

Sapper, thanks for that link. It did work for a few gauges, but others that "worked" were berserk. frown

Like others mentioned ICE its the export LUA in <your user folder>\Saved Games\DCS\Scripts. I was able to get Helios working with my A10C setup again today. Did you try the stock LUA file by chance?

It worked for me but again that was A10 not KA50.......

I was also using an old version of HELIOS so if you don't have the newest version try updating that too. I think the newest version is circa June 2013. It was having issues finding the right file until I updated it, seems once I updated HELIOS it found the file automatically (I think).

It can be a PITA to get setup but once working its awesome.

Yep, the .lua worked, but was out of whack. I've now updated to the 1.3 version of Helios.... it did recognize and setup a correct .lua for BS so that is sorted.

However, another issue I have is that Helios HALVES my fps. I have 28-30fps normally but with Helios, I get 13-15. Just re-flew my "training test" mission and I was 11-13fps most of the time. I was feeling sick before I even finished the mission. Any help? I am running 3 screen display with SoftTH plus a fourth with extracted ABRIS and Shkval, GPU is a XFX 7970 GHz edition 3GB card. WTH does this game need, a Titan?

Try running HELIOS on a different core than DCS, you have to do it manually everytime you fire it up but HELIOS (AKAIK) only runs on one core, if someone knows otherwise let me know.

How do I do this exactly? Not too familiar with this technique... or in fact, how to determine which cores are working and which aren't.

Well assuming windows works the same for you, go to your task manager> processes then right click the HELIOS entry and choose "set affinity" then set it to core 3 (my PC lists cores as 0, 1, 2, 3 respectively). It will probably look like its running on all cores but AFAIK it only really runs on core 0. In my case I get a slight FPS boost since DCS is running on cores 0 & 1. If you have your shkval and ABRIS running on the second monitor you can also turn those off on your primary monitor but I only know how to do it for the MFCDs in the A10......

Hope this helps!

EDIT: From how I understand it (and anyone feel free to correct me here or above if I'm wrong), is that when you extract the MFCDs or abris/shkval on a second monitor its redrawing the world on that display. So if you have the shkval on the external monitor and primary monitor displayed its drawing the game either two or three times. Thats why you get the hit on the FPS rate.
