I know we've talked about this before, but I'm still undecided on a few things... and willing to take my SimHQ console Gaming brotherhood's opinions and advise... until it disagrees with mine. lol wink

Next gen consoles... what you decide on Xbox One or PS3...why? or why not?

Current gen consoles Xbox 360 or PS3... what upcoming games you getting for each?

Battlefield 4... going PC? current gen, or waiting the extra month for next gen? Why?

CoD: Ghost... getting it? PC? current or next gen? Why?

FM5 (or is it 6) and/or PS3's GT6... getting either? Wheel or pad?

Assassin Creed Black Flag?

any other major title coming that might or might not be a must have... current gen or next?

Just share your thoughts all in one post on all the subjects... so I can decide. wink

BF4 for sure on the 360 and will upgrade to the XB1 at some point. Day one purchase (pre-ordering this week). Not sure if I'll get it for the PC. I'll be upgrading my PC in November, should be able to run it just fine.

Not likely going to buy CoD:Ghosts. I've pretty much had it with the CoD franchise and their playground-size maps. But, I reserve the right to change my mind, especially if the SP campaign has any real depth.

Very much on the fence regarding FM5 because of the wheel issue. If it supported my Logitech DF-GT it would be a definite "yes" but if I have to invest in an expensive wheel then it's a "no". I'm currently hooked on iRacing and rFactor. I won't go back to playing a racing game with a gamepad, no matter how pretty it is.

Probably will not be getting Assassin's Creed, but it's looking good.

Have a strong interest in Titanfall for the Xbox One. Hoping it's going to be more than CoD with small mechs.

The only upcoming titles that really interest me are on pc.
So far, no reason to get a next gen console whatsoever, much less at the high price at release. There's just nothing worth playing on there!

However, in the Spring after a card update for the pc, I might get a PS3 for Last of US, GT6 and some other games I'd like to see on there now that the prices are improving. Plus, getting to use my G27 on there would be nice.

Next gen consoles... what you decide on Xbox One or PS3...why? or why not?

Xbox One as they have the games I want and I have never been interested in Playstations.

Current gen consoles Xbox 360 or PS3... what upcoming games you getting for each?

Have a 360 and don't plan on getting anything for it now. May get a PS3 once prices come down to play The Last of Us, Heavy Rain etc and see what all the fuss is about.

Battlefield 4... going PC? current gen, or waiting the extra month for next gen? Why?

PC. Was going to get on Xbox One but my PC still makes it look nice so will stick with that and it's cheaper on PC.

CoD: Ghost... getting it? PC? current or next gen? Why?

Nope, don't do COD games.

FM5 (or is it 6) and/or PS3's GT6... getting either? Wheel or pad?

That Xbox One edition I'm getting comes with Forza 5 so yeah lol but no on wheels, pad will do just fine.

Assassin Creed Black Flag?

Yep! Have all the AC games and love them and this one is pirates so it's a no brainer. Want it on Xbox One but have to try and hold out not buying it on 360...

Next Gen: so far no release games driving the upgrade for me, FM5 is a bust due to the wheel upgrade needed for greedy Microsoft, eventually if there is a reason to upgrade I will upgrade, maybe even to both, but no reason so far, PS4 probably will be first one for me due to supporting PC USB controllers...

Current Gen: PS3 will be used for GT6 which I am really looking forward to and for other exclusives (still need to finish LastOfUs, HeavyRain, etc), XB360 will continue to be for FM4, GTA5, RDR etc as well as Windows Media Center extender, in fact I'm planning to buy a 3rd XB360 for media extender purposes on Black Friday prices.

BattleField4: not buying on release, feels too much like BF3 and I bored of that quick... eventually will buy on PC during inevitable Origin sales.

Not really hyped for any other console titles, am open to it and will upgrade if my fellow SimHQers start playing something worth the upgrade... hopefully something will eventually be worth the upgrade, otherwise PC + PS3 + XB360 can keep me happy for a few more years, prices will be lower and hardware will be more stable anyhow if I end up waiting.

Next Gen is off the table for me. I waited 2 years to get a 360 and I just got a PS3 2 years ago. I can wait for the inevitable price drop to buy next gen, Hopefully by then they have the kinks worked out of them. I am leaning towards Xbox one right now however If PS4 is cheaper when I cave in a buy one Ill get a PS4.

Cureent gen titles I plan one getting are as Follows:

Splinter Cell BlackList-Xbox
WWE 2K14-Xbox
Beyond Two Souls-PS3

BF4 on PC most likeley due to cost. Its 50 USD at game stop for the premium edition.

CoD no way. Im done with CoD. to many releases to close together.

GT6 defiantly. I like how GT6 is being released on this gen console. Forza kinda lost me by not releasing. However FM5 is why I would get a PS4.

I havent played Assassins creed since the first one so Black flag is a no go for me.

I think I may just say my money and build a gaming rig and go that route. PC games seem to be cheaper or drop in price faster.

I really don't need or want any of the new consoles... thou I still have both pre-ordered... but MP on XBOX Live has always been so much easier and better then PSN, that's why I don't want PS3/4... plus their account hack, their server down for over a month etc etc... I do appreciate the PC gear support thou.

Xbox One has been such a disappointment that I've read so far... but the controller is awesome, and online play is awesome with friends list and parties, etc etc...

I want BF4 for sure, I also want CoD Ghost more for the SP and I still do enjoy just getting online, in a match and killing without much thought, plus the new MP features like SQAUDS look great... just imagine my squad of 6 AI taking on your squad of 6, and being able to jump in and control which ever one you want...for bragging rights. etc etc Plus it's got 2 things I love now... Dogs and Scuba Diving. wink

I got a kick ass PC, and would love both BF4 and Ghost on PC... but history has shown that the PC is hard to get into, crashes, terrible in game comms, and I prefer the gamepad to a keyboard due to being left handed.

still undecided.

OH, I was going to skip Ghost and BF4 on 360 and just get either PC or Xbox One... but my daughter just got a job at Gamestop... and I was moving away from disk to total DL only games, but kinda hard to do when my daughter works at a store... need to buy to support her. wink

Employee Discount!

Last time I was at a Interview for Gamestop (prior to all EBGames closing or being re-named),
I was told Employees can "Borrow" copies of new games to play before it's released, that way they can give pro's/con's to customers.

But yeah, Gamestop Here sells digital download cards, pay for the card, enter code, download.

(usually only for Teir 1 popular games (BF3, BF4, etc).

If not, Steam Cards, or XBL/PSN Points/Money Cards..

Just stock pile them, and when a game comes up, redeem 3 $20 Cards.

I dont leave anything hanging around on my account anymore, the FIFA hack was a PITA.

Next gen consoles... what you decide on Xbox One or PS3...why? or why not?

Xbox One - Live swayed it for me in the end. I love Xbox Live. Still interested in what comes out for the PS4 and may purcahse at a later date for decent titles. I may buy a PS3 at some point so I can catch up on games I have missed out on but I just hate that controller frown

Current gen consoles Xbox 360 or PS3... what upcoming games you getting for each?

None spring to mind. I did the same thing from Xbox to Xbox360 - just moved to the new console and never looked back really.

Battlefield 4... going PC? current gen, or waiting the extra month for next gen? Why?

Battlefield 4 on Xbox One - not bothering with current gen except for any exclusives that I just must have, not seeing any coming out soon. I bought BF3 for PC and Xbox 360 - spent 148 hours on the 360 and 2 on the PC, purely because of Xbox Live.

CoD: Ghost... getting it? PC? current or next gen? Why?

It would be on Xbox One but I probably won't get it. I'm getting sick of the yearly releases of the same stuff.

FM5 (or is it 6) and/or PS3's GT6... getting either? Wheel or pad?

Definitely getting FM5 - comes with my console but would have bought anyway. Love the Forza games - always used a pad on them. It defeats the purpose for me setting up a wheel rig in the living room while playing on the sofa smile

Assassin Creed Black Flag?

Yup, buying it for my wife, she loves the assassins creed games.

any other major title coming that might or might not be a must have... current gen or next?

Just watching trailers and reactions at the moment - Titanfall looks cool, maybe Ryse, Dead Rising 3 - didn't play the 2nd one but enjoyed the 1st one.

Ya, but on Xbox One Titan Fall is low HD standards... I won't buy any console game if it doesn't support at least 1080p @ 30 fps, prefer 1080p @ 60 fps.

Not buying into the Xbox One yet, only use my PS3 now for a BR so not going that route either.

Only game that interests me and my kids is BF4 for the 360. Already have 2 on order. Both kids and me are done with CoD, they don't even want me to get it. I had on of the AC games, didn't really care for it, but this one looks cool.

IF they're looking for a new game, might consider that.

Next gen consoles... what you decide on Xbox One or PS3...why? or why not?

Xbox One has been pre-ordered for a while. Hopefully will have it delivered sometime around launch weekend. Went with X1 because of Live and all the gaming friends already established. Many of whom are getting X1 eventually. I'm also really looking forward to trying many of the other entertainment aspects of the X1 and how it will interact with my home theater system. The Kinect is also a big plus for the family. My little guy loves it and I've been using some of the workout titles at home myself.

Current gen consoles Xbox 360 or PS3... what upcoming games you getting for each?

Keeping the 360 mainly for my little guy. Invested a lot into Skylanders and Disney's Infinity and as far as I can tell, they will not carry over to the X1. The last game I'll play myself on the 360 will be the new Batman game. Will be selling my PS3.

Battlefield 4... going PC? current gen, or waiting the extra month for next gen? Why?

Getting BF4 on X1 on launch day. Still trying to finish a bunch of games on my 360 prior to X1 launching. Need to stay focused on what I have before investing in new games or else I will never finish them. Have about 5 weeks to go!

CoD: Ghost... getting it? PC? current or next gen? Why?

Getting Ghosts on X1 on launch day. Same reasons as above. I like having both BF and COD because I have always felt they provide a nice change of pace because they are so different from one another. I choose based on my mood and who is playing what.

FM5 (or is it 6) and/or PS3's GT6... getting either? Wheel or pad?

Also getting FM5 on launch day. I always use the gamepad for my racing simply because I don't want to buy extra gear like a wheel and pedals.

Assassin Creed Black Flag?

Will eventually get Creed but will have to get through COD, BF4 and FM5 first. Three games at launch will be plenty for now. Not to mention there is only so much punishment my wallet can take but this title is a must. Absolutely have loved this series.

Future games looking forward to?

Titanfall and Destiny on X1. Titanfall is the game I am most looking forward to, even over BF4 and COD. Presentation looked phenominal!! Hopefully won't be disappointed. Destiny is also a must this next gen IMO. It really appears to push these new systems the most, based on what I've seen thus far.

Nice hat, looks good on you though.

I might be the odd duck here. After playing "War of the Roses" and "Chivalry", I'm most looking forward to "RYSE Son of Rome." I think I'm burned out on FPS games (no more COD for me either.) Periodically I get my FPS fix playing "ARMA2" and mods on Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising on the PC.

For some reason in the last six months I've really enjoyed all the swordplay and even went back to the Ninja Genre. Hell, I even went so far as to purchase several old XBOX360 games like: Tenchu Z and Kengo: Legend of the 9. Kengo is by no means a great game but I enjoy the authenticity of the one-on-one Samurai Duels Mode where you can even perform a Kumitachi move. So if the reviews are good on RYSE I might purchase the XBOX One.

Otherwise since I have both the 360 and PS3, I will hold off a while on any next-gen system. I recently completed Splinter Cell: Blacklist on the 360 and I've gotta' say that is the most enjoyable game of any genre I've played in a long time. I truly had trouble putting the controller down.

The only other title I'm considering is AC4 because of the Pirate aspect and naval battles. I hesitate on this one because I wasn't very impressed with AC3 and I've yet to finish the game.

As far as racing games: I still own the Xbox360 Wheel and Pedal setup, and since I just officially found out that the XBOX One will NOT support the old wheels, I think FM4 and the F1 games will be all I will ever need, at least for the foreseeable future. I also have two wheels for the PS3, but will not be buying GT6 as I personally found GT5 to be a bit underwhelming. I WILL get the new F1 Classics Edition as the inclusion of many cars, tracks and drivers from the 80's and 90's will make the game worth buying for me.

On a final note, I was on the fence about RYSE as there was much controversy about the use of QTE's in the weapon combat. I don't object to QTE's as part of a particular finishing move (ala Assassin's Creed), I just don't want to see the over reliance of them in a fight sequence. After watching a RYSE one-on-one combat scenario about a month ago on XBOX Live I'm now very excited about what the game has to offer.

Hey Mace,
Don't buy Kengo for the main story mode. Its' basically kill around 40 samurai and then kill the boss samurai. And that is generally what you do in each chapter, although it does have its' moments. The battle or combat mode is where it shines, you against the AI opponent in three matches each. It really gives you that uncomplicated old-school Samurai combat feel. There are some minor camera issues, but you can get around that with practice. There is also a mission mode where you take on various challenges such as fighting seven Ronin in a forest, etc.

If you're into Samurai history and lore, you'll like the fact that the game uses actual historical figures from that period and the mission mode gives you scenarios based on Samurai legends.

I assume you have Tenchu Z, are you enjoying it? I find it great to play in short doses. And I like the simplicity of the game, no extra bells and whistles. Its' like figuring out a puzzle, trying to get to the assigned victim as stealthily as possible and taking down opponents without being seen. As I mentioned in my previous post, if you like stealth play get the latest Splinter Cell. IMHO its' the best game in the entire series.

Also, have you tried any of the Ninja Gaiden games? They have a very fast and frenetic pace and over-the-top gameplay, but after you get into the game it has a unique charm and the combat becomes like a bloody choreographed ballet.

Since I assume you're playing on an XBOX I would recommend Ninja Gaiden 3 (not the re-release Ninja Gaiden 3 Razor's Edge). Ninja Gaiden is known for its' extreme difficulty, so NG3 has an easier mode. NG3 also has a great skirmish mode that you can buy and DL from XBOX live. XBOX Live also has Demos of NG2, NG3 and NG3RE if you want to give them a try.

I originally got into Ninja Gaiden on the PS3 when the game developers released Ninja Gaiden Plus which was an update of the first Ninja Gaiden on the old XBOX. They updated the graphics to HD and improved the gameplay and storyline. Its' rated as one of the best action games of all time and beautiful to look at as well.

RYSE will coexist for me as an alternative to playing Total War Rome II on the PC. Think about it, some evenings I can go for the grand strategy of commanding huge armies playing Rome II and other nights I can get "down and dirty" on the battlefield and even go one-on-one with the enemy.

At this point, no plans to pick up either of the next-gen consoles. I'm sticking with my PS3 and PC.

No plans to buy COD, BF4 or GT6, either. At the moment, I seem to be leaning back toward turn-based or WEGO games - CMBN Market Garden, Red Storm and Espana-1936, along with SB Pro PE 3.0. I might pick up Assassin's Creed Black Flag and NHL 14 eventually though.

The only "must have" games I'm looking forward to are Wasteland 2 and Wargame - Red Dragon.
