If it didn't have Joss Wheddon's name on it, I'd have abandoned it halfway through the first episode. A super hero show without super heroes is dull. I know SHIELD isn't really about them itself, but they constantly make references to the Avengers events, characters etc. It was cool seeing SLJ make an appearance though. I like Clark Gregg (Coulson), he seems to get the Wheddon humor and delivers it well, but the other characters annoy the hell out of me.

The first episode was gold compared to the recent ones. Just saw the most recent episode, and it keeps steadily going downhill. So far I've figured that even Star Trek TNG had a pretty #%&*$# start, but at least there was something there that indicated potential for improvement.
Was hoping for the show to be a filler between the Avengers/ Captain America/ Iron Man movies, maybe focus on the backstory more, and how the world has been affected by that Alien invasion.
The producers had so much potential to go with, but totally dropped the ball so far. At this rate, they won't get a second season, big "Avengers" franchise or not.

Agents of shield, for me, has done for television what Prometheus did for the alien saga......
If it didn't cost a postage stamp, I would have mailed the creators a brown paper bag full of excrement with a little note saying... "Why don't you use this material for the basis, plot, and character development in your next show. Its got twice the amount of goodness that that crap of a show you call agents of shiled".
Poor scripting, very very very poor scripting. The show is for those who have an interest in super heroes but lay between the ages of 12 and 13.
I will not get that time back watching the first episode. What a waste.
So what do you reckon, do you think I liked it ?

There isn't much to really get excited about in this show. It has a 90210 kind of feeling and while it isn't Avengers so much as it is the kids who worked in the mail room while the Avengers were kicking butt, there are a lot of things they could do to get some of the Avengers in it without actually having them there.. after all it's CGI that gives us Iron Man, the Hulk et al. they could for instance have Iron Man do a fly by or have any number of CGI rendered Heroes make a brief cameo exiting stage left as a set up for a story line. Right now I'm finding it a bit boring.

I don't get the 6 engined C-17. People who know planes will see it looking foolish, and the average person would't see the discrepancy OR look at a regular C-17 painted black and say "hmm, it's cool but 2 more exhaust ingesting engines would make it hella wicked!!". I recorded the pilot because it had planes in it and watched a few mins past where Gregg came out of the shadows before losing interest like it was a made for TV superhero movie. it is comic books. That gave us the Fanastic four flier, the hovering SR-71 from X-Men and so forth. Try to keep logic out of mechanical design. It is simply meant to look cool.

But the flying aircraft carrier in Avengers made perfect sense. LOL ...and could lose an engine and still fly.

Heh, I'm reminded about the time when LOTR fans complained about "tomatoes" being mentioned in the first film because tomatoes didn't exist in the Old World. Never mind of course things like dragons, orcs, elves, magic, etc.

I find it entertaining. It's not "serious SF" if that's what you're looking for, those shows are all gone. They don't get ratings anymore, so don't expect to see one. I think they deliberately are not trying to overlap with any of the film properties for fear of a film contradicting an earlier TV ep or something. ST proved what a PITA continuity can be, so they're trying not to expose themselves to that too much. Besides, after IM3, how could you see him flying by anyway? The Jedi Master

Know what this show reminds me of? I've been trying to figure this out since the first episode: Team Knight Rider. Virtually no likable characters, almost scifi but it's not, rips off something I enjoyed, has a mobile command center...yikes. I think I watched as many of those shows as I have this one, and I think it's enough.
Apparently the agreement to put this on tv says no superheroes from the movies to interfere with the storylines. I'm surprised SLJ was even able to be on there. Don't cross the streams!

I don't think I saw TKR, but I did see the Knight Rider reboot (with the Hoff's "son" in the car) a few years ago with the guy from BSG in a supporting role. I would describe it just as you did TKR. It didn't last a full season IIRC, and was in ratings trouble from the pilot. The Jedi Master

Yeah, TKR was many years before the 3rd attempt at a series. Several people with their own unique cars based off of KITT.
