Hi, I have a copy of EF2000 Super and have downloaded the EF2000 Reloaded software but i'm not sure where to go from there.....any help greatly appreciated. I'm running windows 8.1 64 bit with Parallels 10 on a macbook pro retina with a 2.8 Ghz i7, NVIDIA GeForce GT 750M and Intel Iris Pro, 16GB of DDR3. I have the 32bit version of windows as well if that helps. I also have a thrustmaster X HOTAS if anyone knows how to make that work as well? Hope someone can help, the video looks amazing and brings me right back to the nineties, i've looked around for more modern combat flight sims that get the balance between realism and arcade and nothing comes close. Thanks Craig

I just got this thing working, what a chore! @wireman82, i'll try to boil it down for you but you'll need to check out the TAW wiki to find more detailed instructions. 1. Super EF2000 will not do. You need either vanilla EF2000 or EF2000 V2. I'm sure you're capable of finding a 'disk' of those somewhere. 2. They will not install in windows 64 bit, you'll need a 32 bit os (or Virtual machine) to do it. I installed Windows Virtual machine and mounted the CD image in an XP VM. It then installs onto the VM virtual C drive, at which point you copy the files from the virtual C drive to a mapped drive on your actual windows machine. 3. Then you install ef2000 reloaded (which is actually just a dosbox launcher it seems) and point it to the location of your EF2000 install. 4. run the game config from within the reloaded config. (inception!) this will let you setup sound and your joystick. it took me a few tries to get everything working, about 3 hours of work. Now....doing all this on a Mac running windows??? jeez....who knows.

Ok, I guessed and understand this, the limitation of dynamic campaign but are combat ground units which nowhere can be found in game... I'm working on a long article (in Hungarian but maybe later I transle into English) about the evolution of military fighter simulations, only jet sims except some WWII games which have to be mentioned because of their campaigns (1942: The Pacific Air War and SWotL) It is funny that many of sims what I wist to play in '90s I can do only now. Falcon 3.0, Tornado, EF2000, Jane's USAF. Sadly many of older sim cannot be runned now...

I'm pretty sure there's a thread in this forum right about how to make Jane's F15 run under Windows 7. There's an F18 too World is good. I hope this helps.

Well, this certainly raised my interest in EF2000 beyond "TFX successor to be investigated later"!
It's not for the reason you'd expect, though: I kinda stumbled upon this when researching what old DOS games had VR headset support, most notably the head-trackers in the Forte VFX1 and Virtual i-O i-glasses.
Aside from digging up a few VOGONS threads by Carl Kenner of GlovePIE fame, I didn't think anyone else would actually care enough to emulate any of those head-trackers in a DOSBox build for use with TrackIR and perhaps other modern head-trackers like the one in the Oculus Rift, but lo and behold, someone actually did!
...as long as it's for EF2000, anyway. It hasn't passed the Terra Nova: Strike Force Centauri test, and I doubt System Shock will fare any better once I get it all set up.
Nevertheless, the work done there should simplify things considerably if anyone wants to make a VR-oriented version of DOSBox down the road.
All that aside, I didn't think a DOS-era sim like this would have already introduced clickable MFDs and a dynamic campaign. It's certainly come a long way from TFX, and I'm already getting that JSF: Joint Strike Fighter vibe of a nice balance between realism and accessibility.

Hi Mikew and Homefries, Thank you so much for bringing back this classic sim. Your amazing work is truly appreciated! I have a quick question. I downloaded EF2000 (Special Edition) (1996) from a website that I can't seem to remember! The installation went without a hitch. When I click the desktop icon to start the sim, a dosbox (orange) dialogue box comes on and disappears almost immediately, after which the original (grey) DID interface for the game opens up on the screen. Everything works well, except that I can seem to get the joystick ( Saitek X45) to work. When I check the Joystick option and return to the game, the plane rolls continuously, and when I try to centre the joystick by hitting alt-c, it crashes to desktop. I hope you are able to help. This is an awesome sim and brings back memory back from my active simming days in the 90s! Cheers, Sean
