Well that set up sure would be a first.

First of all, do you have my modified 3dz Studio set for cockpits? It's based on an earlier 3dz Studio that I hexedited so that any of the cockpit files could be the main file in the same manner as the F is usually the main file for the exterior model.(BTW, I have a set of exterior modified 3dz Studio programs that do the same thing.)

With that program you can load all the cockpit 3dz's the same way we load the exterior files. It helps a lot with orienting everything correctly.

As for your set up, I think you should start with the U and Y as wing views since those are the two files we normally use for such things, although admittedly it's usually the twin engine planes that use the Y.3dz. In fact, you might want to build the prop and engine on the Y.3dz. it should render OK. Remember me explaining about the P-82 cockpit? That has one prop way off to the right rather than directly behind the pilot like your DH-2 but all the same, it renders just fine.

Also, you should attempt to build the .303 right onto the V and W files thus doing away with the need to modify the gun sight for that purpose.

Then you can use the Z for the instruments.

Of course another way to go would be to take an existing biplane cockpit and modify it to suit you needs.

Hi Ray.

I'll give it a go, but I need to use all 7 3dz's including the Z for the virtual cockpit. I have a good painted dash, with dials on it already, so the dial needles just need to be rendered over the painted dials. wink

I hate building cockpits! But the struggle continues.

Now have a woeking set of files, just a shed load or rendering problems to sort out.

Hi Ade.

Nice to see you here again. thumbsup

as you can see I'm trying to put a cockpit for the DH-2, but I have a horror story with the RS, as you can see. I'm going to see if splitting up the cockpit in a different way, will be better, but it's a very depressing job. frown
