I did a couple of "before shots" around KSBP and the smaller town close by that I grew up in. These places looked pretty poor in FSX, even with UTX and a free third party "California Central Coast" addon. I installed FTX Global and took the same images for comparison. Note: Present in both the before and afters is UTX, Scenery Tech NA, California Central Coast X from Avsim, and REX. Before After Before After The drier look without FTX Global is actually a little more "accurate", but I fell like the overall picture is so much better with FTX Global. Also San Francisco and Oahu (both with UTX shown):

Looks nice! Any noticeable FPS hit? I see you are at 30 FS in the afters but not sure what you had in the befores.

My fps are limited to 30 by Radeon Pro, so I didn't notice any change.
In general, I'd say it my not look like the RIGHT place with FTX Global (not that default FSX is neccessarily better), but at least it looks like a REAL place. If you get what I mean...

Some more, in my area, Northern Germany Below, Aerosoft EDHK, you see, textures match perfectly. Environments look great, maybe the agricultural fields are a little to big, but this is only a minor complaint. Overall, looking great. Testing Night textures, I always loved the FTX 3D lights. That again is Kiel btw., where EDHK is located. Finally EDHH, at night there is a visible difference between Aerosoft and FTX. That said, on my setup (REXE HD, UTX, GEX Europe and FS Global X 2008), clearly a must-have. No FPS hit AFAIK. I installed simply on-top of my FSX.

Kilo, you didn't uninstall GEX before installing FSX? I'm wondering if I have to do that. I have GEX for the whole friggin' world, practically, plus ORBX for Oz, PNW, NZ, all the major land areas. CAn I just install Global over everything without any problems?

I did so. The manual said, one should uninstall GEX, but if understood right' just in case one would like to go back to FSX standard textures. Who would want to do that?
In the end, all went well without uninstall king GEX.

In the end, all went well without uninstall king GEX. That means GEX and ORBX can co-exist. If I want GEX textures, I simply go into FTX and check default FSX (that gives me GEX). This works, correct? Or do you de-activate GEX somehow?
