This is V1.9 released before anyone came up with 1.14 and 1.15. I posted this because Magitek was asking about it here: http://simhq.com/forum/ubbthreads.php/topics/3813472/Re_GWUT_modification#Post3813472I think he wants to see what's in this version that went missing when 1.14 and 1.15 were made.Like I'd said in the thread in the above link: "But yes, the artillery (including ships) would actually fire on your target when you call in an artillery strike.
When you called in an airstrike, you will actually see air assets being diverted to your target.
Not like in 1.15 where 9/10 times is negative, no aircrafts available or all artillery committed somewhere else.
Also the ground units would actually engage each other:
I've seen tanks and IFV firing at other ground units and also ships firing at ground units."That comment quote I made above is the reason I posted this. We want to fix that in 1.14 and 1.15. Tired of calling of airstrikes and artillery and be rebutted. If we can combine the elements from this into 1.14 and 1.15, we can add realism to them and give the ground units and the ships more things to do. I didn't make this. This was made by someone else long (in 2007) before 1.14 and 1.15 were released. I also believe that in this one IF I remember correctly, you can't fly the new choppers (MI-24, MI-28, Blackhawks, Viper, Bell, etc etc). You can only fly the KA-52 and the Comanche.
What's in the box? C'mon, what's in the boooox?

ColjamesD troublemaker LOL!It would be nice to see ground units engage each others and to get support from combat air assets and artillery when you call on them.

I was confused as you could tell. I thought it was a new update, rather than an older build. So people don't really need to install this unless they're helping out with the differences between that build and the current one. There was a lot of other stuff released since that would be lost.

Even though I spend more time lurking than posting these days, as one of the "old farts" of EECH, I'll toss my two cents in..... 1.9 was (primarily) Arneh's release. I was one of the major releases of that era. Although, to be honest, 1.10.2 is the last stable build, from back them. (It's actually the version I still run in my sim today.) If you are looking for the turning point, version 1.11 is where everything kinda fell apart, for me. While 1.10 and 1.10.2 were just bug fix updates to 1.9, 1.11 marked the next major release. There were alot of cool things Arneh (and others!) added in 1.11, but there were alot of things that got broke and never fixed to my satisfaction...hence the reason I still run 1.10.2. Most of my issues revolved around the sound. (Not to say there weren't other issues.) In 1.11, the outside/inside sound levels broke, the rotor slapping under collective load sound stopped, the proper utilization of the hardware buffers was lost, etc. Firebird did alot of work to try and fix it but it was never quite the same. Most noticeably the buffers issue. Back in the day, if you had stuttering on screen, it was usually caused by all the sounds bogging down the CPU. If you had a hardware accelerated sound card and turned up the buffers, in the .ini, you could get rid of the constant stuttering. In every release since, I have had stuttering issues and the buffer settings seem to make no difference, at all. So as long as 1.10.2 still runs smoother than everything else, I'll begrudgingly give up the noise maps and all the new eye candy. OK....so maybe that was more like three cents?!

Can you define stuttering in these instances? Are we talking low frame rates, or intermittent slowdown, or frametime variations? Can't say I have any stuttering, but no amount of action/sounds will bring the game below 40 FPS. The later versions of EECH definitely use more resources, so that may be why you are having problems with them. The additions always use more CPU/GPU. Not too sure about the collective load sound here.. but I've probably never heard it. Shouldn't be hard to fix if it is actually missing in 1.15.. edit: Browsing the sound files I'm quite sure this effect works in 1.15. As for hardware buffers, they are not used very often anymore as the majority of computers today have on-board sound chips paired with very powerful CPUs. Those of you with more venerable machines paired with actual sound-cards might have problems indeed though. Ultimately I'm not too sure why hardware buffers are broken in any way, as most of it is handled exclusively by directx anyway.

The stuttering is usually too quick to register much on the frame rates. I don't use the frame rate in the game, so I'll run FRAPS to monitor it. The rates are a solid 35~60, usually. The stutters are quick little freezes. The game skips a beat (like a bad cable TV connection) and it happens often enough to be an interference to the fluidity. They're just quick little jerks but when you've spent as much time trying to make the experience as realistic as possible, those little jerks...jerk you right out of the moment. I can't speak intelligently enough on the why of it. I can only convey my experience. I do try the newer versions, when they are released. And every version since 1.11 had stuttered. It may well have nothing to do with the buffers themselves , but with version 1.10.2 (and my rig), setting the buffers to 128 means buttery smooth flight.

Could the problem be relevant to the Comanche modelling in the game ? Both GrizzlyT and myself have pits based on the Commanche and that's the aircraft I usually fly.
I have to agree on the stutter. You can be flying along at nap of earth height getting 50 to 60 FPS then it suddenly freezes (like the pause button was hit) and then continues as before.
It doesn't happen to me all the time and seems to be map independant.
I'm running 1.14.0 on my pit.
Cheers,
Andy
