Doesnt this look like something out of the Star Trek Enterprise bridge?

I found it in an electronic recycling store the other day. I thought "for the parts (switches, etc) what the heck?!".

I would have expected this to have been replaced with software that has more utility. I also have the humungous power supply although no cables.

If you have a use for it Gene it is yours for what I paid for it plus shipping (considering the weight it will be a chunk of change).

I don't have a use for it - I just figured you might want to fiddle with it a bit before you start scavenging parts.

I suspect you could get some use out of the power supply if nothing else. There's also a lot of "greeble" value in that thing for your Mech cockpit. smile

Well it's nice to know that I'm not the only one with project ADD. *laughs* Nice build!

That is an old video switcher board and is of pretty much no use, except tearing apart and using for a simpit. Everything that board does/did is all done far better in software now.

Oh, PropNut, it makes me a little sick to my stomach to think that your amazing Mech pit has been re-purposed into a racing pit. Your Mech pit was everything I ever wanted in a pit: buttons and lights galore and fully enclosed. But I suppose that even though the Mech genre has resurfaced in the past few years, you'd get much more use out of a pit dedicated to racing, seeing as how all of these new "mech" games are basically WASD first person shooters with a new coat of paint, and are not really sims at all.

But speaking of racing, I'm looking for a cheap-ish entry level wheel and pedal setup. While I'd love to drop $250 on a Logitech G27, I don't have the scratch for that right now. I've been looking at Thrustmaster's Ferrari GT Experience Racing Wheel and Ferrari Challenge Racing Wheel, since they both fall under the $50 range and can get me a good start into the sim racing world. Since you've transformed an amazing work of art and engineering from a Mech pit to a Racing pit, I'd love to hear your advice on the subject.

Hi Renic,

Yes, MWO turned out to be more of a first person shooter than a simulation of the Battletech game. This one is probably further from a sim than any of the prior titles, arguably. I had thought that I would be much more involved in the game than it actually turned out. I offered up the pit cheap but with no takers I decided to re-purpose it.

As to what to buy, I might not be a good person to ask that question. My latest choice has not worked out so well.

I bought the Fanatec Porsche wheel for the rebuild, after three weeks it died. We will see how well their support department works.

Before I bought the Fanatec I had the Thrustmaster RGT Pro wheel and pedals set. It has clutch brake and accelerator for pedals as well as two more axis on the wheel itself in case you want to go wheel only. Lots of buttons/axis to play with and the force feedback was excellent. I wish now that I had kept it for a backup; but I sold it to a friend.

Are there any updates on your simpit?
