I'm already getting excited about the F/A-18c in DCS as I'm sure alot of you are.

While looking for info on the aircraft I found this site which has a copy of the flight manual for the F/A-18c which details various prcedures etc, enjoy smile

Yeah, it's gonna be great to have a proper western fast mover in DCS World, none of this namby pamby AA only stuff - AG is where the fun is biggrin

Nice find on the manual, we can at least get a HOTAS profile setup smile

Yup, my favourite aircraft a fast moving ground pounders/multi-role. The Typhoon should be fun smile

I can't wait for the Tornado GR4 to be finished, but I know it's going to be a very long time. I think it's one of the aircraft that no matter which country you are from you want to see in DCS.

I'm a little confused. Why is there both a left and right hand stick/controller?

It looks like those are the sticks in the rear cockpit of the D variant.

Given the choice I would have preferred the E variant, but a C is good smile

I've heard more than one pilot call it the "heavy bug." I'll happily take the more widely used C version.

Need to start brushing up on my carrier operations though, and I'll be really curious to see how ED implements flight ops around the boat. Virtual LSO's, anybody?

I wonder if you can adapt the jtacs for that?

I'm a crappy pilot, but one hell of a shot.

True, it is heavier. However the F18e/f gives you more wing area and larger engines to compensate for that. Also in return you can carry more internal fuel, have 2 more hardpoints for stores, a greater weight carrying capability and MTOW, and even a greater "bringback" capability (you can land heavier.) Not much loss traded off for A to A handling, if any, and a great deal gained for multi-role carrying capability and range.

Good point. If you look through the key assignments, we already have a view mode for LSO view.

The C model IMHO is the a great choice (I'd even be happy with a A) - there is more information available on it over the E (though not all of it is unclassified) - looking forward to getting a chance to fly this one as the Hornet has been one of my fav modern combat a/c.

JTACs will be no different from what we already have and operate exactly the same. As for LSOs they should get a vLSO like in FSX that is awesome because it grades your traps based on RL LSOs.

Pilots manuals, Weapons Manuals, and Maintenance manuals are all still classified and not allowed to be publicly distributed.
For all F-18 Variants, if someone is selling anything other than the NATOPS Manual, then they can get in serious trouble.

Naval Air Training and Operating Procedures Standardization (NATOPS) are less detailed than the actual pilots/mechanics/weapons manuals.

They Include Mainly Performance Data, Procedures for systems etc, and not Detailed Systems Data for each system.
(Basically, Crap that isnt classified).

Example NATOPS Manual for Super Bug E is 934 (806 Pages from Boeing), the actual pilots manual has another 100-200 or so pages of detailed system info, the weapons manual is prolly another 300 pages just for weapons systems, and the maintenance manual is prolly another 400 pages of detailed info for the systems.

*(Im not entirely sure), as I havent been to the Simulator in a few months (Due to Increased Active Duty use, as a result of spending cuts).

But the last time I glanced at a Super Bug Pilots manual, it was over 1500 pages, then add the Weapons Manual and Maintenance manual and other manuals),

a Super Bug Complete Set of Manuals is well over 2500 Pages.

A Legacy Hornet Pilot's Manual I believe is over 1600 Pages alone,
I still have one in a box somewhere, as my dad was a AE and had manuals up the yazoo for F-14s (A,B,D), F-18s (A,B,C,D) and A-6s/EA-6Bs.

Plus all the manuals are A-1 Prints smile

ATC's, not JTACs.

And ATC's Are being adjusted/IMPROVED for 1.2.5, whether or not it has to do with Future Carrier Ops or Not is unknown

Will BMS' Hornet be a new flight model or the F-16 one with a Hornet pit?
