Been playing IL2 with the latest HSFX (used the auto installer to update it)...
But I have a sound problem.. when I fire my aircraft weapons they are extremely faint. (internal and external sounds).
I'm using jsgme with the HSFX history mod, perfect map textures, and Tiger flybys.. Any idea what I can do to sort this?
Any ideas gratefuly received.

Couple things.
Disable the extra sound stuff and re-test.
If still goofy...
ENABLE the DEFAULT SOUNDS (sub)MOD and re-test.
If still goofy...

If you have a SB card, ensure that EAX is disabled.

Check conf.ini under the [SOUND] section and ensure:

Code:
SoundFlags.hardware=0
SoundFlags.forceEAX1=1

Retest.

Then DISABLE (remove) the DEFAULT SOUNDS (sub)MOD and re-enable the Tiger Flyby

Retest.

Report back.

Works fine with the default sound.. but when I disable the default sound and go back to HSFX sounds my aircraft weapons can hardly be heard, with or without Tigers flyby mod.
When firing rockets however they are load and punchy.. thats what I would like my mg's and cannons to sound like.
I think the HSFX gun sounds are fubared!

Check which sound settings are required. IIRC for HSFX it needs to be 22kHz. Not sure if that would fix it, but it's one thing to check.

You got two options: adjust the samples or the preset (*.prs) files.

What you need to do to adjust the prs files:
1. get the sfs extractor
2. find the sfs files which have the UV3 sound (by default it was tigersounds1&2 sfs)
3. extract the prs files
4. put them into HSFX's mod folder in the correct folder structure
5. open the weapon presets and adjust their [spl] value to higher (from 100 to 140 for example)

When I tried UV3 in DBW I liked it a lot (amazing fly-by's) but I wasnt able to hear the flak or the enemy cannons in internal or even in external view. I was flying in full flak barrage and all I heard is my engines. I was unable to fix this problem so I reverted to DBW's stock sounds. Later somebody told me that UV3 uses a different sound matrix than DBW so its not fully compatible with it, unfortunately since the release the latest jets and SAS engine mod the UV3 soundmod cant be used with DBW at all, because it has classfile conflicts and features will not work. Other people at SAS - HSFX users - probably know more about these problems than me, so its not a bad idea to post there too if you experience difficulties with soundmodding.

Cheers
Istvan

ps.:

If stereo samples were used by accident the those will be twice as loud with the same spl setting as the mono ones.
I can check this out but tell me which gun to check, in fact we should check this first before doing anything.

It influences only the playback quality but it doesnt matter because the samples are 22100Khz quality anyway.
