Being the senior most patrol officer on the force has it's perks... in this time and age of budget cuts, police cars still have to be replaced... we are replacing 4 of our fleet cars with the newest police interceptors, and i get the very first one... without lights and a cage right now, will show more when finished...

The 2013 Ford Police Interceptor...

AWD, 3.5l V6... upgraded police suspension and brakes, chief said no on the pursuit package upgrade, but since were only allowed to pursue for aggravated felonies, not needed in a town 13 miles long, 4 miles wide. wink (still, would of been nice)

30k... you would think we would get a bulk discount or something. wink

Nice for a work car, it is a Taurus, right? But would anyone really buy that, it looks ugly, styling is pretty bad.
I guess bad guys don't get a say when they are offered a back seat. biggrin

Boo to the no pursuit package, you should have hit your chief with something like, "you never know when those seconds may count"

The sheriff's department here bought a trial Aussie Caprice and they didn't have any love for it (it was fast as hell I'll give it that). They're going with the Dodge Chargers now IIRC.

20MPG is still better than the 15 for the Vic and something like 10 for the Caprice.

Nice ride Magnum

We have not moved around any of the Ford Police package cars this year (we have in the past along with Dodges offerings, they were even shopping around the Chrysler 300 for a bit biggrin ) but we have moved a lot of the Chevrolet (Holden) Caprice Police package cars around to various Police departments for demo purposes.

Those "naked" cop cars are the ones that try to hide incognito so they can nab speeders. wink

you chaps on the other side of the pond would save an absolute fortune if you used cars which actually had decent MPGs, 20 is just shockingly low! jawdrop

Looks nice Magnum.

I always wondered why police cars have those little chrome hubs in the center of the wheels. Is it some sort of extra strong wheel hub?

The reason I ask, is that in my neigborhood, there was recently a rash of home burgularies. The NYPD had unmarked cars patrolling the streets. Since I work nights and get home at 2:00am most nights, I would have an unmarked car following me home as I walked to my house from the train (a mile walk). I guess I looked suspicious and I dont blame them for following me. I was actually glad they did, because I felt like something was being done about it.

Anyhow, I could always see that its an umarked car by those little Chrome wheel hubs (or whatever they are called). I wondered why they wouldnt just put regular hub caps on the car instead of those police sytle wheels and have the cars in different colors other than black. The unmarked cars stick out so much , they may as well me marked police cars. Just curious.
