PropNut, if you do ramping plunges, you won't get those little "hooks" at the start of the bit travel.

Do you mean in the PCB engraving? I will try that out, thanks.

I was referring to the pocketing you did for the edge-lighting.

Fantastic stuff! I've always wanted my own ICP...and now I'll still never have one because that's way more work than I'm ready to sign up for, but, hey, you've got me dreaming!

Well done, can't wait to see the final version in action!

There are easier ways to get an ICP, you can hack a USB keypad into and ICP module using a custom panel. That was my first idea but it was discarded due to the need for axis as well as buttons.

I have started to cut the buttons on the CNC machine, no real pictures at this time but I hope to have them painted and engraved next week sometime. The process is very slow on my machine as I want the buttons to be exactly the right size to fit the openings.

So I pretty much just push the button and walk away for an hour or so wink

This left me with enough time to make another floating tool holder this morning while I ran three sets of buttons:

Five of the button sets...in the raw so to speak wink

I will start painting these today, I am also going to cut out three more sets (for the oops factor) so hopefully I will have 8 good sets.

The bore holes that you see are registration marks so when I am ready to do the engraving they should line up perfectly...if I did it right :o

Hi Propnut,

Does the allen screw sticking out the side not cause instability at router speeds ?

Or, is it sized to so that the head fits neatly in the slot when the bit is locked in ?

Very nice job anyway....

Andy

Hi Andy,

There are actually two screws, one to a side. I guess this keeps them pretty much balanced. For engraving I set a pretty low speed anyway.

And thanks! smile

The first module off the production line. Well, it still needs a dobber handle; I need to fabricate them yet. It also needs a switch for the FLIR (although it will also function as a button).

Otherwise it is fully functional

Thanks gents.

Not sure how that Zero key got in there. I had one complete run of buttons mess up (my fault). I had thought that I had tossed them. Didn't realize it until after I took the picture.

By the way, I have a MK1 ICP Module that I would trade for a good working Cougar HOTAS.

The first completed MK2 ICP Module!

Not real happy with the back lighting, needs more light in the upper left corner. Not sure if I can re-purpose one of the LEDs up there or not.

But, as far as it goes this one is ready to ship.
