Guys:

I downloaded 'Imperial Thunderbolts' in the hopes of getting a new view of things; however I have been having some problems installing the the campaign...I have both DBW AND the latest patched 'regular' IL2-1946; any hints as to who to make it work?

thanks ahead of time.

This tutorial at M4T might help you enough to get it installed properly.

I am assuming that the campaign is written for DBW?

Is this the campaign you downloaded? If so, please note that it was published in 2009.

Yes, that's the one. Is it not compatible with Win7?

NickM,

I responded to your question..."I am assuming that the campaign is written for DBW?"

DBW has not been around that long, so this campaign could not have been written for it. I was hoping you would understand this.

Even though "Imperial Thunderbolts" was written before DBW came out it probably will still work.
If you are concerned about "Imperial Thunderbolts" trashing your install just make a copy of your current IL-2 Sturmovik folder and use the copy to test the campaign. You could use a flash drive for the copy if you don't want it on your hard drive and you can play the sim directly from the flash drive.

Well either way Wheelsup, I still can't get the game to show up; I unzip the file into the IJN campaign mission folder & I keep coming up 'bupkus'. Unless it's a Win7 issue....

I just tried " Imperial Thunderbolts " under Classic Games > 4.10.1m in my way over-bloated DBW 1.71 Master install and it started and ran fine. I didn't install the paint schemes.

Usually, but not always, if a mod will run under 4.10.1m, it will probably run under DBW. It just depends on what other mods are currently installed.

plug_nickel

ps...running W7x64_Ultimate, so it's not a W7 issue.

I think I might understand your problem now. If you are unzipping the entire download into the IN campaign folder it is not going to work. I downloaded the file and saw that PhilK used a full file structure in his download. You should be unzipping this file into the Ubisoft folder which will place the files into their correct folders.

From PhilK's readme

Ok, that is another clue for me. In a default installation from the CD the file path is just as PhilK mentioned.

Default: C:\Program Files\Ubisoft

Since you say your filepath is C:\Ubisoft we need to work backwards a little to find out what folder you need to use for the download to install into the proper location. The next thing I need to know is which folder has the Missions and PaintSchemes folder in it? Posting a screenshot of your installations file path so I can see the file structure would help too.

Default Filepaths for the Mission and Paintschemes folders.
