Does anyone know if they are working on improving the campaign?

Still hoping they spend some more effort in improving it as I'm sure that most of the ROF community fly's OFFLINE...

Edit, beat me to it.
.…………

Luke FF has done a lot of work with the devs adding career to the new map. The improvements applied to the new map are being applied to the original map, more units, historical squad sizes and other stuff.

Starting a career on the new map is probably the best way to see the improvements.

Individual flights still seem limited to 5 planes, though I realize that is probably a sim/interface limit at the moment. Would love to see the big Allied 1918 fighter sweeps sometime in the future, though.

I've been flying ROF from the beginning and in all these years, the ONLY ace I ever came across after HUNDREDS AND HUNDREDS (I'm sure thousands) of missions was Berthold flying his appropriately painted aircraft. It was an easy victory as I came over the front with a significant altitude advantage-he went down after a couple of passes while flying my trusty SE-5.

And after AAAAAAALLLLLLLL these years---------------that's it.............

If this thing is so awesome (the PWCG) then why doesn't 777 pay this guy a $1000 or something and integrate it officially into the sim?

That's what I'd like to see.

PW seems happy the way things are, after all PWGC is almost integrated now.

ROF Career and PWGC complement each other. PWGC gives maybe a more realistic experience for people with the time for it, ROF Career gives shorter flight times with less climbing to the action generally. PWGC doesn't have arty spotting and recce integrated so far.

Try them both to see which you prefer, its good to have the choice. From the ROF boards there's a 3rd party instant action career engine in the works, the more the merrier.

hey toonces: judging from your post, you've neither tried out PWCG nor have you spent any time on the ROF site, or else you would know that the guys over at 777 have tried their best to integrate Pat's Campaign. You really should try it out, as it was the one thing that kept me hanging on to ROF way before the beta campaign was released. cheers

speaking of B campaign; has anyone else noticed that it's impossible to be captured since the last update(apologies if this subject has already been covered)? flew a couple of missions(french & german) and landed behind enemy lines to see if it was just a fluke, but each time ended up back at the squadron for next mission. duh

Personalization package 3 gives your pilots a lightsaber and the ability to use the Force. Capture is no longer a probable outcome.

New version released - 13.6 - now with a complete set of Albatros DIII/DVa default skins.

Version 13.6
Added over 100 Albatros skins
- Download the new skin packs from the PWCG web site if you want to use them
Bug Fixes:
Fixed error with promotion events.
Fixed corner case error with Campaign Log if string was exactly 60 long.
Fixed error in campaign logs always showing January as the month
Sabine no longer flies for Germany

About the skins. I developed them in support of historically accurate skins. With these skins you will have squadron skins for every D.III and D.Va unit that is used by PWCG. In addition, they cover the changes in German camouflage over time, so where there used to be one skin per squadron/plane there are now two or three to make the changes historically.

Brown/Green/Green skins for March 1917 Albatros D.III
Mauve/Green/Green skins for March 1917 Albatros D.III
Mauve/Green/Green skins for March 1917 Albatros D.Va
Lozenge skins for October 1917 Albatros D.Va
Lozenge skins with Balkenkreuz for April 1918 Albatros D.Va

New camo schemes are brought in over time, so different squadrons will make the switch on different days.

We've explained it many times. Not technically possible.

No, but some of the best concepts from PWCG could be implemented, if that were the priority.

Sometimes a concept requires something technical that specifically can't be done with the current engine.

I don't know if 777 is planning a "next gen ROF" engine that would eliminate some of the restrictions they've had to contend with over ROF's life or not, that would be a massive undertaking, but I'm sure they'd like to be able to. I doubt they enjoy telling us ad nauseum that this or that feature or upgrade is beyond the scope of possibility.

"the anteater is wearing the bagel because he's a reindeer princess". Magic!
She will go far.
All the best to her.

Oh and yes,PWCG is the best thing that could have happened to RoF.

I mean seemingly simple things like including historical aces in squadrons, or even having the squadrons pre-populated with at least some experienced pilots, where appropriate. The difficulty may lie in exactly how they would want to implement the concept, but given that the sim already (1) tracks pilots in your squadron and (2) tracks (to a certain extent) enemy aces, it would seem the underlying capability is there.

Other things like better (more period feeling) interface (though admittedly that is in the eye of the beholder), or bigger flights and furballs and higher flight altitude, are definitely doable, since the latter two especially already exist in user made content (though how the AI would react is, of course, a more difficult question).

There are many things they 'could' do, but unfortunately that would mean that only people with very high end machines would be able to play it... and that would mean that many would cease to buy their products.. 'Catch 22' see...
