I'm a huge fan of "The Searchers" myself.

It's hard to choose between "The Outlaw Josey Wales" and "Jeremiah Johnson" for me...

They all had their moments. To me, Once Upon A Time in the West is the best film of them all - whether it's the best Western is up for debate, but I think it has it all - the best music, best directing, a great story, magnificent landscapes, excellent actors. The second best - man, that's a hard decision. I'm torn between Unforgiven (Eastwood), High Plains Drifter (Eastwood), The Great Silence (Corbucci), or High Noon (Zinneman).
The Magnificent Seven is too campy IMO to make it into the top ten, For a Fistful of Dollars or The Good, the Bad and the Ugly however could make it. But Liberty Valance is probably more valuable as a drama.

Hard to pick a favorite.

But if I had to, it's "Silverado".
It has everything.

I like "The Outlaw Josey Wales"....and "Tombstone" comes a close second also.
Hard to choose.

But;

If it was a western "series", I'd take "Deadwood"....hands down.

Hm. It's a matter of personal taste, after all. To me - Silverado probably had one of the most impressive casts in a Western, but ... well, I didn't find it particularly intriguing.

You want 'intriguing'...catch 'Deadwood', the series.

36 hours of constant intense plots and counter plots.
And Ian McShane as Al Swearengen fit like a key in a lock.
All the characters in the series, never did anything better in their careers.
It was the best western I've ever seen, by a mile.

Nothing compares to it, nothing comes even close.

For me it would have to be "The Wild Bunch"...it just like watching an offshoot of RDR. I also love the original Lonesome Dove minseries for that true authentic western feel to it.

I'll second 'Lonesome Dove'.
That would be my number two, western series.
Yeah, it was 'very' good.

So many good Westerns out there I would have a hard time choosing a #1 out of them, it could come down to which one you watched last.

For total enjoyment I love anything with Trinty and Bambino smile

I cant pick just one as the best western of all time. But my one of the best list ... could get pretty long.

Tombstone
Magnificent Seven
The Unforgiven
The Man who Shot Liberty Valance
Fist Full of Dollars
Red River
...

I love Westerns and grew up watching them in the 60's. My wife just bought me Appaloosa last evening. I wouldn't call it the best but its pretty damn good. Reminds me alot of McQueen's Tom Horn. Ed Harris (of Apollo 13 fame) directed it and stars in it. It also stars Viggo Mortenssen and Renae Zellwegger. I recommend it.
