Hello Hornet-Heads!

I am proud to announce my first campaign creation is ready, thanks to Major Dragon who compressed the text files for me. It hasn't a fancy or very long mission tree, but contains only custom missions created by me and other people I fly with as well as some of my favourite missions I found on the net (all NCAPE). I just linked them with a hopefully nice and consistent storyline and limited the ressources very much ;\) It should be good to have a online-party playing it and taking care of useful usage weapon and bringing the birds home for the next mission. If anyone is interested, I will release it!

My second campaign is almost ready, but this time it is a *semi-dynamic*, circular campaign. It has a dynamic ground and sea war, and a simulated dynamic air-war. The mission circle represents one day, you will repeat the circle again and again until time (1week) or ressources expire or all campaign goals are achieved. If you think now, you will have to play the same missions over and over, then you are right, but also WRONG! You will have a fully operating carrier air wing (F14's, A6's, S3B's, AWACS, Tanker etc.) on hand each mission, but YOU have to set their waypoints in the planning screen! This means, u can freely decide in each mission what to do, wether to put more A/C on BARCAP, or to drag the F14's BARCAP-waypoint over your target acting now as a TARCAP etc. I achieved this by assigning all the elements of the wing to the briefing groups, allowing the player to edit or add waypoints in the mission planning screen. The debriefing or campaing logic just detects if there's one of the campaign goals achieved or not, it doesn't matter what you decide to do first, so there's no specific goal for each mission. There is no mission to just click and fly, if you don't setup the flights, they will fly just dumb patrol. I am now testing the details, but so far this concept seem to work (although Jane's is not really designed for it;)) I tried to have the FalconAF-like campaign planning in my beloved Jane's, I would like to know how you like this idea and if it would be maybe worth to release it?

Cheers ;\) ,
Lobo

Sounds good, mate. Glad to see more creative people getting involved. Sounds like some cool stuff you are working on.

Just keep working together with Major Dragon so that we get your text files compressed with most current comprehensive version. Don't want to exclude any of the other work being done by other guys.

good point, Paul,
haven't thought about that! At first I have to get the compressed text-file from Major Dragon, then I will think about a download-location. Maybe avsim.com will do it or I will just post my e-mail;) There's also a chance to put it on the CAG50 site...
I will let you know asap,

Lobo

Recluse was the first to give me a place to post new stuff for download, so I'm kinda partial to that option, myself.

I know, Recluse has also always a nice explanation of the campaigns and missions to download. To give it a name, "Operation Nordic Dragon" is zipped 3.8MB in total, missions + campaignfile. Will this be ok to e-mail it? If anyone is willing to put it on his/her site instead, leave me a message.

Lobo - before you send your campaign around to post we need to work on the compression file. Otherwise your campaign ctexte file will not contain any of the other campaign files. Also, send me (or someone else who writes campaigns) a copy of the readme file you plan to include with the installation instructions and required F18 updates to run the campaign. I can send a draft of one for you to look at if you like. This way it can be released as a zip file with missions, campaign file, ctexte and instructions all packaged together.

I'm going backpacking in the mountains this weekend, but will be back Monday.

Awesome Lobo!
A "Carrier Commander" campaign is one of the things that I wished the most to see in JF-18 and now it appears that you will deliver one. Thanks very much for your work Lobo!

Hi Ricnunes!

I got your mail and sent the campaign to you, but the mail was returned to me with this error:

Failed to deliver to '*** mail adress ***'
LOCAL module(account *** mail adress ***) reports:
account is full (quota exceeded)

Maybe your mailbox is full ;\) You can e-Mail me again when you're ok!

Lobo, did you try to send the file to me (Dirk?). I got some undelivered message that occupied 7753KB. I'm not sure if it was coming from you though, it got blocked anyway. How big is the file again? My mailbox can hold not more than 5Mb.

Thanks!
