OK, I didnt really have this problem last summer, But, as My Facebook says over the last 24 hours, I've been having Temp issues on my HDDs. My CPU is water Cooled, GPU is DualX Cooled, and I can lower temps now that I got AMD Profiles to work (hotkey to disable eyefinity and drop to 1 screen.) 2x 120mm Fans on H100 Radiator out the top. 1x 120mm Fan on Back Exhaust. 1x 200mm Intake Fan on the front (the stock HAF22 Fan) 1x 200mm intake Fan on the Side Panel (Blows on the mainboard.) I have 2 HDD's in it right now, but yesteday I had 5 in there. The WD 1.5TB Black is a lil warm, Along with the Twin 500GB and the 1TB Seagate drives. But the 250 GB WD that I transferred from my old system to hold 3ds Max files and stuff is hitting upper 40s and yesterday was peaking at 55^C all day while i was at work. (i wish windows woulda just turned it off, but i dont think it's possible to program that (yet)) So I shut everything off, because the Temp Alarm was blaring from about 12:45pm to 7PM. Took out the Extra 3 HDDs I had put in to access old data from my old system. I'll also be looking at a External unit to access the other drives (that way i dont have to keep opening the case to insert them and remove them) Right now I have both HDDs in the HDD Rails Directly in the Airflow of the front fan. (I think the fan filter may also be clogged again). I went back to the setup of using old Pentium heatsinks with Thermal Tape on the drive to suck heat off it, and the front fan dissapate heat, but it didnt seem to help. (prolly cuz the fan filter is clogged, and the fan prolly moves crap for nada air anyway). not to mention the airflow through the HDD bay is kinda restrictive due to the design. I cannot buy the "Coolers" that screw onto the bottom of the HDD because the HDD's are mounted using a tray that clamps onto the HDD (HAF922 owners know what I'm talking about) I was thinking of a few options: -Buying a 5.25 Bay Addon that takes 2 5.25 bays and turns them into 3 3.5 bays with a fan in front of the HDDs. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835110018-Buying a few 80mm (90mm if they'll fit) fans, and spacing the HDD's and use Empty HDD trays to hold the 80MM Fans in the space below each HDD and have them blow on the bottom of the drives. *or just hot glue them / epoxy glue them to the bottom of the HDD trays themselves and put the modded trays on the hdd. (need to find 80mm thin fans), might dig through my box-o-juck for old AMD CPU Coolers and pull the fans off them.

An overheating hard drive is usually a sign of a failing hard drive. Back it up!

Ah 101F room will do it.
Also some drives run hot anyhow, my Seagate 3TB USB3 External enclosure drive runs at 50c normally which I had initially thought was dangerously high compared to my internal drives that run 20-30c, but when I looked it up on the Googles/Bings, it is the common normal temp for this drive and well within the manufacturer specs, go figure...
I agree with the idea of backing it up anyhow.

well, the WD 250 GB 8MB Chace drive always ran hot, I believe it's the drive that came in my System i bought in 2005 from iBuyPower.
But it was too small, and I Moved data to a 1TB Seagate a few months after getting it, I had moved it over to my new system after wiping it a while back to store misc stuff and 3ds max files.
During the week I felt a need to put both 500GB Seagates and the 1TB Seagate in my new system to copy some data from them, and left them in the system for a few days (it was still in the 50s here), then all ova sudden, summer came, and the 250GB Drive was on the bottom of a 5 Drive array in the Case.
So it hit 51^C, tripped alarms for 6 or 7 hours, and got a bit hotter (i think around 55/56^c)
I shut down and took out the 3 seagates, spaced the 1.5TB WD and the 250GB WD apart and made sure they were in front of the front fan airflow, but the temps stayed in the mid-40s, while the 1.5TB was in the low 30s.
Building the make shift fan arrays lowered temps to mid30s on the 250GB, didnt really do anything to the 1.5 GB as it wasnt overheating.
i think the WD2500JS's have a history of running hot or mis-calibrated sensors.
I'll prolly look into cleaning off one of the 500GB drives or the 1TB and copy the 250 over,
My D Partition is pretty much empty on my 1.5TB (500GB/1000GB paritions (well 490 and 945 or so), and my windows parition is getting pretty full with all the new games and BF3 DLC and stuff, so I'll prolly look into expanding that partition.
I think since the D:\ partition and the C:\ Partition are on the same physical drive, that explains why i get Recording drops when playing some games, but not when recording from external sources (Xbox360, Cannon 4K Cam etc).
But yeah, I ran an external sensor outside of my case about a foot and a half away, and it was reading 101^F at around 12:45P the other day, it was 91 outside, even with a window fan, it just started baking in the room.
BTW the Above HDD Trays were from the HAF922 USB 3.0 Version I used in my brother's recent build, my HAF922 HDD Trays did not have the holes in them.

yeah,i know the best way to cool them is to blow air directly on the bottom, fans blowing on top or across never did much,
with my HAF922 i cant screw on one of those dual fan coolers either, so I just decided to use fans I had and the trays,
I may go out and get some 80mm fans to replace the CPU Cooler fans i used (prolly higher CFM and Static pressure)
I want one of the new ASus CoolTech FANS.

Yeah, that's why I like FL...even the old houses have had AC for decades! And if the heat breaks, who cares? Anyway, I'm amazed you left everything running once it broke 90, there's no way PCs will cool enough with that ambient level. The Jedi Master

Anyway, I'm amazed you left everything running once it broke 90, there's no way PCs will cool enough with that ambient level. The Jedi Master our house had an AC unit added on in like 1985, a External 5000 BTU unit (YES 5000 BTU), for 2 Stories 4 Bedrooms, 2 Full Bath, Living, Kitchen, and Den. It never worked very well obviously, and constantly blew out the fuses, (which where also added on with the unit, so we have a main fuse panel, then another one on the other side of the house for just the AC unit.) We stopped using it when i was 7 (1991 ish), and now a tree has grown through the fan unit. i was 60^F when i left for work, and spiked to 91 around noon, but hit 101 ^F in my room w/ the electronics on.

AC's age like PCs do. My house was built in 2001. In 2010 we replaced the AC with a new unit that cooled far better and cut our bill in half. So the 2001-era AC units are already outdated, the ones from the 1980s might as well be coal-powered!
As for the temperature, it never changes that much here in a day. It will usually go from cold to comfortable or comfortable to hot (or vice versa) but never hot to cold in one day. Of course, I never leave the PC, TV, or any of that stuff on when I'm not at home either.
Also, I live hundreds of miles south of you and it has not broken 85F yet in 2013, so I'm surprised at that as well!

Wow, 101F indoors. I probably would be "undressed" (shorts only) in that heat -- I think 80+ is hot indoors (Ohio resident).
In our built in the 1950s era house, we finally (in the 1970s) upgraded (from nothing) to a BIG attic fan and a single Window unit. Ultimately, that became a whole house unit in the 1980s -- updated in 1992 -- still works well, I understand.

You dont wanna picture me in a 101F room...
I'm Looking at Window/Portable units, Main Vents havent been used in 20 years.
I'd Rather use a Portable Unit, and just set it in the room and run the hose out the window.

cant be as loud as the 2 lasko weather proof window fans on high that are in my window now?
A Pallet with a 30,000 BTU Outdoor Unit is $2300+
I can just buy 3x 10K BTU units for like less than half of that, and set them up 1 upstairs, one downstairs, one in back room.
