I`ll have a play.... i note that entering numbers into the UFC doesnt work from the keyboard, only with cursor on the clickable pit, so sadly that wont work (I think it works in F4AF by typing on the keyboard).

Let me just get some stuff done on my EEAH/EECH profile (yes, gonna spam them too \:\) ), and i`ll see what I can do for F/A-18.

Zorlac, you can enter numbers, but you have to know the commands that correspond to them - or maybe even you have to set them up on your keyboard.

Mine looks like this (but I may have added them):

KEY_ALT_0=UFC_F00
KEY_ALT_1=UFC_F01
KEY_ALT_2=UFC_F02
KEY_ALT_3=UFC_F03
KEY_ALT_4=UFC_F04
KEY_ALT_5=UFC_F05
KEY_ALT_6=UFC_F06
KEY_ALT_7=UFC_F07
KEY_ALT_8=UFC_F08

But I think actually these are UFC function keys, which are not the same as the UFC keypad keys. But those are also in there, just have to find them and set them up to correspond with a keystroke.

In game, go open into settings, under controllers, then keyboard and have a look there. You can add these commands to keystrokes there.

For reference later, what I do is open the f18keys.ini file and print it. Then I can make notes, etc. I found that useful when programming the X52.

For a better understanding on this, see the TSHv3 site in Joe's sig. Here is the table of contents.

Yeah, I'd say -- if you can figure out how to program a touchscreen from scratch all on your own, then you can damn sure go in there and program a few keystrokes.

Give 'em hell, man. I'm dying to see what you come up with.

Zorlac,

The UFC keystrokes only exist if you have installed TSHv3. TSH made it a point to add these keystrokes in TSHv3 because, previously, there were a significant number of JF-18 commands that could be activated only with the mouse. TSHv3 links every JF-18 clickable area to an in-game command, which in turn can be mapped to a keystroke. We did this specifically for cockpit-building purposes such as this one.

Please have a look again at the List of Jane\'s F/A-18 Commands , and in addition the commands added in TSHv3 (with images indicating the cockpit locations of the new commands). These new commands include the entire UFC, the weapons jettison select panel and rotary knob, the fire extinguishers, the EFD (engine fuel display [for bingo settings]), the heading & course selection switches, the Radar/Baro altimeter switch below the HUD, and the HUD symbology rejects switch also below the HUD.

Already got it working \:\) Just knocking up some dodgy keypad graphics to make the keypad on the touchscreen. Also got buttons for refuel boom, flaps, gear, cycle HUD color and master mode cycle.

I`ll have something to show you before the weekend is out (got a wedding to go to tomorrow)

Great. I'll be gone for a week, but I'll be looking for your video demo when I get back. Thanks for working on this.

AVI DivX Version

Note: Its the same video content in both, I just decided to give you a choice of what video format to watch it in.

(Sorry, I forgot to show the Flaps working... doh!)

Oh, btw, there is a slight delay between the keypresses and the action in-game because I was running the debug/test version of TouchBuddy which spits out a vast amount of info, which slows things down a bit. Normally the reaction in-game is almost instant (when running without debug enabled)

You didn't raise your gear, either. \:\)

Cool video. Clearly this device is useful with JF-18 as is, but I'd really like to hear more about the "modes" that may be possible in the future so that the disaply can change based on certain in-game states.
