If anyone in the UK can "lend" me a copy for evaluation, that would help no end (if I wanted a copy to play, I would buy one from somewhere... this is PURELY for eval/video)

Obtained a version of F/A-18, now I need patches... can anyone point me in the right direction?

(Does it work under XP?)

Works under XP, yes. Please follow the procedure in the Add-On Installation Guide linked in my sig.

Zorlac, you really only need to go up to TSHv3 for this purpose. Anything more and you'd just be wasting time for hardware testing.

Ok, once I have the copy here and installed, and have v3 installed, once I work out exactly how to enter the commands, testing TouchBuddy should be a 10 minute job... making a test profile will be 20-30 mins, making a vid might take a bit longer.

Hopefully, if work or wife dont get in the way too much, I should have a short vid to show at the weekend sometime.

Would be nice to add another "yes it works" entry to this:

Zorlac, that's excellent news!

We take your word that it works, but still I'm looking forward to that video.

thanks for making the effort on this,

Ripcord

EDIT: Managed to track down the official Innovatek dealer in Russia (in St. Petersburg).

$434 for that bad boy is a bit steep, though. Heck, for a little bit more money, I can buy a tour to China (a short drive from here) and just pick one up there.

Right, finally found time to get it installed and patched... and Touchbuddy works a charm \:\)

I dont have a clue what I`m doing with FA-18, flown a couple of times, but lots of buttons to learn. My initial basic test was HUD color cycling, flaps toggle and refuel boom, and all three worked perfectly first time (both locally with TB running on second screen, and client/server with TB running on a separate machine).

what options do you want to see in the vid? I dont really know what each one does yet (having only 30 minutes flight time so far).

Well, the coolest would be touchscreen operation of the UFC (up-front controller). This is the green monochrome display below the HUD, which operates in CNI mode for input of TACAN stations, Autopilot control, etc. and in MDI mode to display some of the MDI pages that can be displayed on the left and right MDIs as well as the MPCD (multi-purpose color display) at the bottom. In MDI mode the UFC buttons along the screen perimeter are touch zones that mimic the actual pushbuttons on the other three MFDs. The real Superhornet's UFC is actually a touchscreen.

The key to doing this right would be to get the screen's display to change based on what mode the UFC is in.

Well, for testing purposes, I guess anything. B for brakes launches you from the carrier, then F for flaps and G for gear. Then whatever. Maybe hit M once for A-A mode then again for A-G mode. Doens't have to be a big production -- just to show it works.

Certainly setting up what Joe suggests would be not only cool, but quite useful, in that it would give us something of a template to use when we start programming.

I want to do something like Ruggbutt proposed in that F-15 thread (below), which is to have a Left MDI page, UFC page, Right MDI page and radio comms page -- these for sure I want.

http://www.touch-buddy.com/forums/showthread.php?t=231

I like how he was able to put in the MDI and some other stuff off to the side. I'd like to do that as well.

I will probably also want to add a couple pages of radio commands.

But anyway, you see what I mean -- whatever you have time for is good for movie/demo purposes, but it would be not only cool but very helpful if you could have a go at that UFC.
