Cold_Flying, just have some patience and you will see that Sheridan will go on quite an amazing and compelling arc as the show progresses. The weight of command...

I like the Sinclair character but I didn't really care for the actor. I always found his acting to be rather wooden and stiff and then later on I found out that he was primarily a stage actor so it all made sense. Interesting. I didn't read it as wooden at all. I saw it as the demeanour of a man who was totally competent at his job, and always weighing lots of issues. The slightly distracted manner of someone with a lot of responsibilities and a sharp mind. As for Sheridan seeming overly-cheerful and perky all the time, that was all done by design by JMS. Once you finish the series you'll see why.
I'm not sure what this refers to. Give him a chipper personality so he has lots of room to get more serious later? He just didn't seem credible to be selected for the position. I did miss a few episodes, though...

He was selected due to sentiments at home being that the Minbari had too much sway over B5. They chose Sinclair to run B5, for reasons evident later on, despite him being pretty far down the list for the job as far as Earth was concerned. They weren't in a position to argue at the time. After Sinclair was gone, and pulled to Minbar, to follow him up Earth sent in the guy the Minbari hated most from the war. They figured they would use him to maintain human control over the station and that his reputation would keep the Minbari at a distance. They underestimated him and he turned out to be a far better (and smarter) diplomat and leader than they expected.

If those first 7 eps impressed you, you are gonna be blown away by what comes in later seasons! The first ten eps are the weakest of the bunch, basically it just gets a WHOLE lot better.
Enjoy! I know I did!
I'm sure you're right, I'm just having a hard time accepting Sheridan. I'm in "Connery to Moore" hell for the moment. Mind you, Sheridan is smiling a bit less, thank God. He was looking like an interstellar ad for Pepsodent. "What's that, twenty people burned to death in a shuttle accident, gee... that makes me want to smile and relate a pleasing and unrelated story from my youth."Anyway, I'm looking forward to some good Shadow war action.
Question everything!

But his stories continue. LOL They poke fun at that in Star Wreck in the Pirkining. The Sheridan-like character keeps going into speeches and stories at every opportunity. LOL

I'm not sure what this refers to. Give him a chipper personality so he has lots of room to get more serious later? Correct. JMS even mentions this is one of the B5 audio commentaries.
“Whoever fights monsters should see to it that in the process he does not become a monster. And if you gaze long enough into an abyss, the abyss will gaze back into you.”

Ya'll are lamenting Sinclair's departure but what about Dr. Kyle and Lt. Commander Takashima from "The Gathering"? Do they get no love? They only had one episode, so people didn't have the chance to get as attached. I really wanted to like Sinclair, but something about O'Hare's performance just bugged me. I thought Boxleitner did a much better job, particularly later in the series.

No, I like their replacements too much. I also don't miss the androgynous Minbari.

I just watched the episode where ambassador Mollari divorces his wives. Peter Jurasik is great.

G'Kar's actor Andreas Katsulas, unfortunately died several years ago, as did the doctor from the show, Richard Biggs, Dr. Stephen Franklin
So sadly, if there ever was a new movie/show created, some of the original characters would be incapable of attending, unless a zombie theme were to come about...

About halfway through S3, you will see the truly compelling and bad ass Sheridan. He has ben grumpy lately. And I've seen him turn off the smile really quick when the person he's talking to leaves, so there is that impression he's being a Ken doll by design, not by nature. I am enjoying the show, no question.
Question everything!

Well, there IS the conspiracy going on. At first the only person he knew he could trust was Ivanova.

Jeff Conaway (Zack Allen) and Michael O'Hare (Sinclair) also have passed on. Also Tim Choate (Zathras) a small but well remembered role.
