I guess some people expect a medal when they can say "I told you so"?

I got a big zilch when I accurately predicted that nothing major would change in the elections last month, that most of the same people would be sitting there and for every one that changed another would change elsewhere to balance that out.

If anything, that means a hundred times more than "telling the future" about a sim, but 100 x 0 is still 0!

You can't argue with fanaticism.

What WW2 Fighter pilots say about Angels and Airspeed:

"Nice job of getting down to the basics - love your choice of a cover!" Col. Clarence 'Bud' Anderson

"I have enjoyed reading angels and airspeed, it should prove good reading for all interested in combat tactics and their application related to the fluid air environment and state of technology in WWII years. All the best as you make it available." - Col. Charles McGee - Tuskegee Airman

.. maybe they'd expect some people to have learnt something?

No need to move on. ATAG and the ATAG Fusion Mod team are currently making significant progress with their patch for COD. IC/777Studios should be able to optimize the new BOS game engine enough to allow enough object/vehicle placement to make a decent stable Stalingrad campaign by 2014/15. WT keeps improving their product with patches, and hopefully someday they will get rid of the mission timelimits so that I can sit down a properly assess their product. BOB WOV and IL-2 are still going strong.

While waiting for all of that, COD still has the best combat flight sim experience on the market for "me", especially with Heinkill's and Desastersoft's new campaigns. This will only get better with the FM improvements and other features improvements in ATAG's coming patch, and future patches.

The sim that will draw the longest and most support in the future of this genre, will be the one with the best FMB that will allow the community to make the most immersive campaigns and missions. Currently COD has the best FMB, but still needs work, while BOS, and WT are still developing theirs. It will be interesting times.

A decent FMB should be capable of placing a high number of objects/aircraft/vehicles, scripting, and Triggers to make the most immersive mission/campaigns.

Does Team Fusion have access to the source code?

They don't have access to the source code or tools, but have apparently fixed the high altitude bug, contrails, and many FM issues. Their team will be looking at issues they feel are priorities, to see if its possible to mod them, and go from there, with no promises. They obviously have some very competent people on their team to be able to do what they've done so far. Hopefully some tools will find their way into the hands of some of their Russian fusian team members. mycomputer

from ATAG

"Every one has to understand that Team Fusion is formed by CLOD players and not by any of the original developers.
Team Fusion does not have access to the source code or any tools.

The team is doing what it cans with the tools it has and, while there are many things every one wishes where changed or added, some might take a lot longer than others and some will be impossible to implement.

In other words, The team is trying to tackle one issue at the time in order of priority as it affects game play and is only when looking at the specific issue being addressed that the team finds out if is even possible and/or how difficult it will be.

Because of the above, the team can not confirm or deny any changes/additions will ever make it until they are done."

Do you hear that, Fezzik? That is the sound of ultimate suffering. My heart made that sound when the six-fingered man killed my father.

With the redux from Heinkill and the modding from Team Fusion, I'm at least feeling that at last I will get a great experience for what I've paid, so I'm not ready to move on, I'm ready to start enjoying ClOD now. Sure, some things won't change and it's not going to become the main ww2 air combat sim plaftorm for the next decade, but at least it's starting to shine for the few things it does allow to do well with its engine (and undeniably it's got some great features not seen in other sims).

And that's what people need to realize. CloD is not a replacement for Il-2:46, it can never be, not now. However, there are some things it does better even while the overall product doesn't live up to 46. If you can find enjoyment in those things it does right, then you have some fun ahead.
