SimHQ DCS World Fly In
February 22-24, 2013 - Friday evening U.S. time through Sunday

It's been a long time coming...

Fly In Guidelines:
SimHQ Teamspeak server for voice comms
Eno's Firehouse server - v1.1.1.1 & v1.2 missions
Hollo Pointe server - v1.2 missions

DCS World simmers, join forces for multiplayer action featuring a variety of missions. The DCS World missions will be both co-op and Blue vs. Red. With two mission servers available we can host many missions over the weekend.

The SimHQ TeamSpeak 3 server is available for voice communications.
See the SimHQ Multiplayer Forum for TS3 server connection details. The SimHQ Teamspeak server is available for members only; free registration. Don't wait for the Fly-In weekend to sign up!
http://simhq.com/forum/ubbthreads.php/ubb/newuser.html
You do not need to join the SimHQ Teamspeak server, but that is where many of us will be.

Eno's Firehouse will run both v1.1.1.1 A-10C & BS2 and v1.2 DCS World missions.
The Hollo Pointe server will run v1.2 DCS World missions.
These open servers are readily available for anyone to join. You can test out your setup before the Fly-In.

DCS World missions will include many types of Client aircraft as well as Combined Arms slots.
If DCS World v1.2.3 is released before this Fly-In then the servers will be updated to v1.2.3. The latest version is v1.2.2.7570 (25-Jan-2013).
These mission servers are accessed through the DCS World sim, Multiplayer link, and pilots must have an account with DCS.
http://www.digitalcombatsimulator.com/?lang=en

Expect many hours-long missions over the weekend. Admins will be available for much of the time to insure server availability and load new missions.
During the Fly-In there will be a post in the SimHQ DCS World forum of the Fly-In events and server statuses.

This Fly-In is an opportunity to meet and greet with the other pilots and Combined Arms players who visit the SimHQ DCS World forums. Block out a couple of hours over the weekend to join the fight and make a difference. All skill levels are welcome - beginners to experienced multiplayers. Aircraft slots will offer Air starts, Warm runway starts and Cold ramp starts in many of the missions.

Rules:
In order to ensure fun play for everyone, there are some ground rules and/or guidelines listed below. In general, if a player is disrupting everyone else's good time, they will be kicked and/or banned.
Shoot to Kill, Play to Have Fun. It's not just a motto, it's...ok, well, actually it is just a motto, but it's a pretty good one. Play nice.
No team-killing, consensual or otherwise.
No obscene language, VOIP or text. Not all folks enjoy obscene language, even if meant in good humor. Other folks may have friends/family reading the chat messages over their shoulder or listening in on external speakers and may hear what you intended as a closed room comment.
Use push-to-talk on your VOIP program.
Read the chat bar and send text messages for important comms in addition to broadcasting over VOIP (not everyone may using the same VOIP program). Be sure to program your chat key for the DCS modules.
There will be an “active runway” at each airbase that includes a preferred direction for takeoff/landing. Ask if you’re not sure. Do not go against the flow, even if it means a longer flight or taxi. Declare an emergency in chat within ten miles of the airbase if you must go against the active runway heading and call for a clear runway and state how far out you are in miles and minutes.
Stop and announce intentions before rolling onto a runway, even if just taxiing “quickly” across. Tip: Check the surrounding area for other players using the F10 map view.
Don't back taxi down a runway unless there's no other way to go. Even then, announce it to the group.
The priority order when there’s a conflict for runway or taxiway access is as follows:
1) Emergency (damage or low fuel)
2) Landing
3) Taking off
4) Taxiing to runway
5) Taxiing from runway
In the event of a priority tie “Got There First” and “Right of Way” (i.e., if the other vehicle is to your right, you let them go ahead of you) are the tie breakers.
Clear the runway as fast as possible after landing and then announce it: "Skippy5 is clear of the active runway!"

Remember, we're all here to have fun. If you find yourself not having fun, angry or upset, step away from the Warthog HOTAS for a few minutes, cool down, and then rejoin. And, of course, please let us know in the SimHQ DCS World forum or via Private Message what we can do better next time.

---

A big thanks as always to SimHQ for the post of this announcement and to use the SimHQ TS3 server.

Hoping to attend this meeting. It would be in the Ka50 for the v1111 missions and for DCSW if 1.2.3 is out, the same and if not then I'll try one of the FC3 aircraft online.

Might not happen - I'm really struggling with my rudders these days (had a really, really stupid idea - "why don't I go out and clear that ice off my drive with a small spade?" screwy and now I'm paying the price).

I would buy CA but I can't find anything encouraging at all about it just now.

Hopefully in the Shark, bush-hopping, I can stay low and out-the-way enough to avoid those pesky F-15s.

Hey JonnyD,
What is really interesting to me about CA is that I can stir up the ground units on the battlefield. I was in Nuke Plant the other evening and ran all the TORs to different places.

I'm working on a new mission that will use CA ground drivers to hold an area for points - kind of like Battlefield where you have to capture a flag and hold it...

Hope you can make it to the Fly-In. chili I let my wife handle all the snow and ice around our house - that stuff is waaay too dangerous.

Skate - not *all* Client aircraft are in the missions. Every one does have A-10Cs, and most have Ka-50s. A few have F-15Cs and some other Russian jets - more Su-25Ts than others.

Not one has an A-10A in it at this point, however. But it would not be hard to clone a couple A-10Cs into A-10As with Air Starts for the FC3 folks - we'll see...

Going to be getting back into A10c hopefully this weekend. This gives me some time to practice and hopefully make the fly-in! Sounds like fun.

That would be great for people who haven't mastered the C yet. Though no need to force an air start unless there are no parking spaces available at the airfield. Ramp start would be just fine, and only takes a minute.

I'd love to see some Russian pointy noses as well. Count me in regardless!

I'd stick with the A-10C or F-15C, cuz TrackIR dont play nice with the non 6DoF pits...

I'll definitely try to make it is well- any chance of running 1.2.4 if is comes out and shows to be stable for MP?

Hi NavyNuke -
We are anticipating v1.2.3, but whatever it is, if it is released before the Fly-In we do plan to update to it.

Eno is planning to run some v1.1.1.1 missions as well.

WC, do you know if the CA price is going up for the PR or is it extra for beta (like the A-10C was)?
