Ripcord, do you have .Net framework installed on your system? This environmental software must be installed for the Tweaker to run.

No, I don't... what is it? Guess I'll have to do a search and investigate this.

Thanks,

Ripcord

EDIT: OK, its from Microsoft. Downloading version 1.1 now.

Right, this one is required. \:\)

I'd also recommend you to install Shoot voice commands program - it will change the way you fly offline quite dramatically. When you mentioned .Framework I thought immediately about Shoot, since it requires .Framework too. I'll send you my profile if you install Shoot. No more keys fumbling, it is here:

Dirk, well, that did the trick. The Tweaker is running now. Thanks.

I'll be back in a minute to report on the results of my tweaking.

Make sure to set it up properly. Then go try Anti-Aliasing x2 and Aniso at Application Control.

OK, here's what happened.

The video ran upside down (I saw that happened somebody else in this post) and I got a CTD when I committed to fly the mission.

I followed the instructions posted just a page or two back (most recent).

What is Aniso, and will that help? I guess it won't hurt to try.

EDIT: OK, I just went with the J version, and now it will fly. But the banding is still here. No improvement really.

Maybe I should go back to the older drivers?

EDIT#2: Works fine, now, when I turn off compatibility mode (and disable vis themes). Not sure yet which one exactly makes the difference, still need to test that -- but the banding is gone now.

Of course, now the video is totally mangled. Not sure how to fix that.

And I get a CTD when I go to Instant Action.

Rip, you really need to muddle with it before you get the best solution. Try changing things in a consistent way and see the result.

Anisotropic Filtering is in the video driver.

I got the best result by using the Tweaker with RivaTuner (from http://www.guru3d.com). If you install it I'll explain how to set it up for the Tweaker. Also install Skype - very convenient way to voice communicate over internet.

Disable visual themes doesn't really make a huge difference for me, I found.

Compatibility mode Win98/ME: Video runs upside down, Instant Action CTD immediate and banding not fixed.

Compatibility mode Win2000: Video totally scrambled, Instant Action CTD immediate, but banding problem is solved.

No Compatibility mode
Video totally scrambled, Instant Action works, but CTD after flight, but banding problem is solved.

Antialias and Anisophiltropic setting also don't seem to make a difference for me.

Note that I'm running WinXP Home SP2 and GForce 6500.

Not having the banding is nice, but having a stable running sim, to me, is probably better.

OK Dirk, thanks. I got Riva Tuner. Not sure what to do with it, and frankly, I'm kinda afraid of it. But it is installed and it's working, if you have any ideas.

Also, thanks again for all the help getting this far.
