Candy liked to get a belly rub in my lap when she was a tiny pup, and never could see why anything should change.

we got her as a pup from our son's baseball coach. His neighbor put them in a box to freeze, because he had left her tied out and she bred with a bulldog, and he wanted pure labs. Our friend took them in and spent a lot caring for them and finding homes. Some of them had parvo and we helped him with the bills. Candy was the sweetest dog I have ever had and loved my boys. When she died, it was a sad day as we buried her in an ivy patch she always like to hunt shrews in. She had seizures and had to be on phenobarbitol to prevent brain damage but it eventually hurt her liver. My older son was holding her as she died and I think it is still a tough memory for him.

Had a black lab as a kid and named her Candy too - a rescue dog. The only difference from yours is she had a white star crest on her chest. She loved to be outside, even if we weren't, and if you didn't let her out she'd cop an attitude. She'd turn her back on you and act all hurt. LOL. So we let her out on the chain and sleep outside in the back yard under the stars.

Sad thing is I've only seen one picture of her. We have boxes and albums of pictures and only one of Candy.

Have had a couple of blacks labs, one when I was a kid called Ben (after the programme Gentle Ben about the black bear smile ) and then Kobi when I was married. Love labs smile

I had one of those! It only stopped now that she can't get up into the chair any more.

candy would come up beside my chair and ever so slowly, scoot up next to my legs, waiting to be invited up. Then she would hop up and twist in the air, so she landed on her back. What a clown!

Dogs are the best.

Good people sleep peaceably in their beds at night only because rough men stand ready to do violence on their behalf.

Someday your life will flash in front of your eyes. Make sure it is worth watching.
