Hi all, I have been building for a long time but never a pit of quality... I have known Choowy from forums and took some liberty with his design now when you see it you wont see much of Choowys design in the pit other than shell shape but that was enough, he knows I was planning on this so in part this project is a tribute to Choowy and has his brilliance for inspriation. also thanks to PropNut. I started this when I found out about Hawken, I Alpha tested Hawken and been testing in all the Beta's so far.... on that note here it goes hope you like it....

I have a comprehensive TARGET profile for HAWKEN that I used with my Cougar I'd be willing to share. It has 2 different relative and one absolute input mode on-the-fly sensitivity adjustment among other things. I looked forward to Hawken for the last 3 years, but was very disappointed once I played it however since I can't stand the way they handled movement by combining it with targeting. My stick is highly modified and is normally used in absolute mode (long story I don't have time to get into on my way to work), but Hawken's movement requires relative inputs...

I havent added all the speakers yet but the sound system is going to be unreal!!!!!!!, the stereo reciever will be mounted in the right console and the alpine feeds into that. I did this for a few reasons
1. The alpine has a CD player and an aux input for my I phone
2. this allows me to not use my PC for streaming tunes
3. allows me to mix game sounds, Phone calls, I phone music, CDs and the radio..all into one sound system without a mixer
and most important
4. allows me to use headphones for day to day play and drive MIND NUMBING sound when the wife is gone lol

Looks great Hotwire. I like the design and where you're looking to go with the Simpit. I have to say having played Hawken I was also a bit disappointed but I was also disappointed with MWO and it's gotten better as time has gone on so I'm positive and excited for both.

Keep up the good work.

Thanks. Well we can always hope. Hawken will come around they Are still in Beta
It gets better all the time. Alpha2 has improved. So keep hope alive.
MWLL. Is another option if your rig can handle it.

Got a minute to myself... pm with profile sent. Here's an overview of highlights and important bits:

3 Joystick modes:
NORM -1:1 mouse units, relative inputs
SNAP -(will be the same as NORM on Hawken)
ABSOLUTE -self explanatory

China Hat -corse digital aimer
D-Pad -Fine digital aimer

SPD_BRK, SPDM -this is your override switch. With it in the override position, it defeats the x/y emulator axes and reverts back to mouse

MAN_RNG -axis input sensitivity, from 0-100%, applies to all 3 joystates as well as digital aimers (if turned down too low, stick is dead so check that first if it's not working...)

Thumbstick button (T1) -this is an I/O shift key -while IN, it controls Joystates and deadzones.
Hat 2 (Joystates):
H2L = NORM,
H2U = SNAP
H2R = ABSOLUTE.
Hat4: (Deadzones)
H4L = .3
H2U = .25
H3R =.15

The rest is straight forward button mapping that you will be able to see when you open the code in TARGET Script Editor, and likely will have your own preferences once you start playing. I did not have pedals operational at that time, so didn't write anything in for them, but if turning the mech/panning aim were tied into them and the L/R dodge buttons mapped to the stick's x/axis, it might feel a little more mech-like (and a little less Quake like) to pilot... I also only made a simple Axmap2 function for throttle, so it only behaves as full forward/reverse/stop, with the axis divided into 3 equal zones. The best option would be to actually bind the analog throttle in Hawken if it is supported, I don't remember. If you need code lines for that, I can set it up but I'm sure you got it under control if needed.

It will likely feel a little more natural in Hawken using your stick than mine, since you have a traditional x/y gimbal with spring return where mine has a custom gimbal I made that moves in pitch/azimuth and no spring return, making it feel perfect for absolute inputs but awful with relative. That is the reason it feels awful with Hawken but feels perfectly natural in MWO, (or anything that drives like a tank...), not so much a fault of Hawken. I'm working up my posts on it for this forum, and don't want to link my projects in *your thread anyhow. ^_^ My MWO script has been refined over hundreds of matches, and reflects a much finer degree of refinement than this Hawken script, but I did put thought into sensible button mapping, and changed it around over the course of a few days of CB playing and feeling what works and such. There may be new functions yet accounted for as well... my download of the new client is not complete at the time of this post so I can't check it against what it currently is, but you will figure it out quickly.

Well, dd you get that profile? Have you got it running? Have you used it? Do you like it?

I see there has been no changes to Hawken's controls/movement, so that Cougar script will work fine, but likely could use some refinement. I wrote a newer, simpler one for a Thrustmaster T16000 yesterday, and played a bunch with it in the training grounds getting it dialed in, then dropped some matches. As I suspected, using a stick with spring return was far easier to deal, and with it's more traditional gimbal more intuitive. I set the L/R Strafe (Hawken has 'a' and 'd' set to laterally move you L/R, and they call it strafe) to the x-axis via TARGET's AXMAP2 function, pitch to the y axis, and yaw to twist (pitch/yaw are mouse y/x). I tried it with pitch/roll to mouse y/x (and strafe assigned to yaw), but it was grotesque and not at all intuitive so quickly switched back. It's pretty hard to aim accurately with a stick, but not impossible. Mouse aiming is way easier however, and I suspect if one wants to be competitive or even good at this game I don't think the mouse can be ignored. That WASDIO controller would be ideal with a nice mouse...

Wow Hotwire that's a great set up there. You sure have packed a lot of hardware into that space, there should be a safety warning on those speakers though!

Looking good, keep up the work, you'll find it's hard to stop adding stuff to it. Really like how you made up the angled front panel area too.
