Hi all, been a few years, just getting back into flight simming. I've just rebuilt my computer, installed windows 7 and the old favorites, il2 1946, Falcon 4 Lock on and flaming cliffs. When I try to start flaming cliffs i keep getting the message that the application installed sucessfully and that a reboot is needed to finish the install but, it never seems to work. Is there a patch I need to make windows 7 compatible with starforce so that i can use this sim again?

the starforce drivers need to be updated to work with Windows 7.

use the procedure in section 2: Versions before 5.5, on the following page: http://www.star-force.com/support/drivers/

the steps i took for a successful installation:

1. install Lock On
2. install Flaming Cliffs
3.install 1.12b patch
4. right-click on icon used to start FC and choose Run as Administartor
5. SF drivers will install
6. re-boot
7. a message will pop-up and Windows will say the driver is not compatible and it is being disabled
8. run the SF driver update tool and re-boot to complete the installation
9. Flaming Cliffs will now run ok

i have the cd version of Flaming Cliffs 1.

I have Lockon Gold 2 discs, I update lockon to v1.02 but this should not be necessary but I like to do it. Tehn I load the disc 2 which is FC either 1.0 or 1.1, you should get to an activation window. Then everything should flow from there. then update to version 1.12 which was the latest. FC3 is the newest and available in pre-purchase Beta. Lockonfiles.com and Eagle dynamics forums should be able to tell you the procedures for FC3 is you decide to get that also.

Right now I would do a clean uninstall,clear windows cache and re-install. Is this a download version or have you Lockon Gold discs. Some discs had an error but I would be surprised if you ran into it at this time.

A little more info on what you have and how you loaded would help. I think you don't get the starforce activation till you try and run FC, so it should install everything you need.

Go to starforce as I think there is a starforce update file you need as well.

Someone else can jump in here also, as it has been a long time since I loaded FC.
