I can never get this silly switch to stay up--thus, never turn my lights on. Anyone have any ideas?

You must have one of the AC Generators on - the APU GEN or one of the engine AC inverters.

I will set the Position Light Switch to Flash on Startup and check to see it is flashing then I can turn on the Anti-Collision Light. If you turn off the Position Light then, as I recall, the Anti-Collision Light will also go off.

Also the pinky switch needs to be in the back position. In forward position it (anti collision light) will not stay on.

What, 3 replies and not one of them makes a joke about a blue pill?

Mr. B,

The pinky switch, located on the left throttle, is a three position switch that serves as "master switch" for the external lighting.

Forward = external lights in default configuration.
Center = all external lights off
Aft = external lights as set per panel

The anti-collision light switch is a solenoid operated switch, which means it'll only stay in the on position under certain conditions:

1) Power is supplied to the electrical bus
2) The pinky switch is set aft.

Hopefully you know how to get power going to the jet. If not, that's another discussion. If you don't have a Warthog HOTAS, you can set the pinky with the keyboard (default binding = ctrl-P for aft, alt-P for forward, and shift-P for center).

Yeah ramp starting is a piece of cake. smile I just have a Cougar, not a Warthog so that explains why don't know what it is. I prolly have it mapped to something, will have to look in Foxy.

Thanks for the clarification. smile

The lights have been driving me nuts.

When I do my preflight APU power checks, pinky switch aft, anti collision lights on. When I want to turn them off I just pop the pinky switch to center and the anti collision switches off.

I guess I never thought to ask, and since I'm still on an old machine and don't have this sim...are the NVIS lights operational? This should turn all lights off (to the human eye) and only operate under NVIS. Or is NVIS implemented at all? Should be operated on the front left console.

Something's telling me in the manual it says it's inactive.

EDIT:

Just looked it up- Page 148... NVIS and NVIS lights switch: Description but adds at the end "no function."

I can't believe I remembered that for some reason.

Thanks eno, didn't think I'd seen a screen shot of it anywhere. smile

Need to get these boys working on the NVIS...it's an essential part of night flying!
