If its not too much trouble for you, I think having both options (coop or versus) would be perfect!

Are there any good mission editor tutorials? I need to figure out how to make some missions...

The one that walks you through it in manual gets you in the door and crew has a thread up in the training area I think that takes it up a few notches.

Hi all noobish pilot here (normaly running around on the ground on the SimHQ Ironfront 44 server ) but thought I would finaly spread my virtual multiplayer wings (and probably make a fool of myself :D) but I tried connecting to the ip for the firehouse and got "connecting to server" then "cant connect" I am running DCS world version 1.2.1.6288 with A10 and bs2

Not sure what im doing wrong .. I tried connecting to a random french server and that connected fine.

Cheers all

Eh murph... welcome to the club. I'm not 100% sure why some people have occasional problems joining- sometimes it takes a touple of cracks at it before the connection is achieved.

We're a perfect spot for you to come on in, relax and enjoy the learning potential- and pretty much feel free to take it as far or as near as you want. TS3 is pretty much a requirement if you want help figuring some more advanced stuff out and all the members are really happy to help out.

With that being said, sometimes guys are focussing on something and can't be much help but they'll usually tell you- and we do ask that people have the minimum solo training done...

What kind of controls are you running?

Hmmmmm- wondering if the issue you're having affected others as well. Been watching wild working over Odessy Dawn for a couple hours here (from work on team viewer) and he's been in there alone... I might run that mission tonight to- sounds like a great one for a flight but he says not so good solo.

Any chance your ISP might recognize you are serving and is blocking some of the connections?

Want to try and reconnect now Ham... I stumbled into something on the server computer (my main rig... some configurations were wrong since I left). You don't need to play or anything- but can you try a connection?

Looks like we've got a high roller here! Both A-10C and BS2. Welcome! I'm somewhat new to this group myself, but I can already say without hesitation they're a great bunch to fly with.

I suppose I'm the resident chopper pilot. I only have BS2, and if the other guys have it, I've not seen them flying anything but the A-10. I would be happy to help you with anything KA-50 related, although I will admit I still don't know everything about it yet, and I'm certainly no pro (as much as I'd like to think I am smile ).

Yeah Odessy Dawn is "ok" solo, as long as you stay above 18k feet. The "red team" lines up quite nicely in town, once all the SAM sights are gone I bet it would make an epic Gun run. At the corners they stack up so CBU's are easy multi kill there. I was just about to take out the CnC vehicle when eNo dropped the server... duh I obliterated what looked like a FARP on a hiltop by "target 2" with 1 CBU-97. Target 1 is a bridge so I had to custom load GBU's to take it out as CBU's don't do squat. To bad we cant take out the RR bridge too.

They way the briefing read we needed to keep them out of the city, but when I got in they were there already, dunno why we need to take out a bridge that is "past" their objective. I assume it's to keep them from our airfield. First run through I had no less than 8 missles on me comin from the coast, never could find them though on my subsequent runs past.

Eh wild- sorry for dropping the server. I'll explain more when I'm not on my iPhone. Someone might need to log in- to restart it. I had a pretty big rush to get things done with my ISP and they called, looked into things and may have sussed out the issue. Tech coming by tomorrow at 1pst- so the server will be down at that time. Hopefully we found the issue.

Huh. If you can fly the shark without trouble but have difficulty with the A-10, your brain must be wired differently than everyone else's. And I don't say that as an insult, but in more of a friendly "you're a freak" sort of way. smile. In all seriousness, its pretty impressive if you were able to easily pick up the KA-50.

I'm hoping to be on for a little while tonight, around 6:30 pm pacific time. Hopefully I'll see you then!

GOOD TIMES last night... Flew that mission that centers around the city of Kutasi. We had a few server crashes last night while Wheel, Bob and I were flying. Seemed to be triggered with Bob's entry in the KA50. Once we restarted it, we were able to enjoy ourselves quite a bit. Unfortunately, it ended with a big fiery explosion when bob and I decided it was time to quit and jousted plane vs heli. We both lost.

PThighs goes after some T-55s with the A-10s cannon. He has quite possibly the longest burst of fire I have ever seen! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4Md4hyRPGbM

Blindone hits a couple SAMs with mavericks, and I go head to head with a shilka. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6nmRAq-bja8

For the record, blindone lost first...

Haven't checked out the videos yet but that's coming up!

Like I said guys- I may have happened upon an issue on my side with the ISP. I have had some conversations with them in the past about speeds but I don't think I was asking the right questions because the reaction I got from the guy I talked to last night (during my shift change at work, just before I was supposed to head to the airport- hence my hurried shut down Wild... sorry again about that) was completely different and much more pertinent.

I explained what was happening and asked if there was any way they could monitor my connection and determine if I was clogging up my upload side... they can't do that- but he looked at a diagnostic between them and the first router "bridge" and immediately said "well right away I see something I don't like- one of the channels is in a negative (red) range."

The router is multi-channel and he said that while there were a few channels that looked okay, that at least one was downright bad. He described it to me as a "decible level" that the router is reporting in terms of signal. He suggested I try unplugging the coaxial cable and plugging it back in. I couldn't, so I called "sweetest" and she promptly unplugged it (sorry wild) and plugged it back in. The guy on the phone said that made it worse, and actually made it so that more channels were bad- then we tried it again... which made it a bit better- but regardless he said that everything should be in the green and that it warranted a tech call out. As it would happen- there was a tech available at 1300pst which, in his words "never happens so let's just take it!"

Knowing that unplugging and replugging affects the signal strength or quality made me realize that when I had moved the server around and reconfigured the arrangement of things on this end... THAT could have very easily made the difference between when I had acceptable service versus this really spotty stuff and different connection interrupted errors. The channel that was affected was a "download" channel from what I understood- but regardless in the handshakes happening throughout gaming could have resulted in lost packets from the clients and dropped them from the server.

So on this end I am sorry that it took me this long to get to the possible root cause of all the instability- I was loathing the task of calling the ISP because getting them on the phone is a painful process that frequently takes more time than I have patience for... so I was trying to isolate problems on this end. Fortunately as it would happen this time around it was pretty quick, with a call back that happened to come in during the shift change... The way this came together was actually quite pleasant and he was very helpful.

I'm going to be moving the server computer back to the "shared" platform- but again it's only shared a few hours for today and tomorrow- then it's reserved until Monday night... at which point I'm gone anyway so then I'll have it up on my main (unshared) rig.

Now then- off to watch some vids!

I'm glad you are making progress... I don't quite get what you mean about the cable connection - possible bad cable or connection on the end of it? I've seen plenty of those in my time...

I did download the free version of Ping Plotter and it was showing a couple of trace route issues between our machines, but I was mission building so did not spend much focus on it.

---

On another note - last night I put my new mission into test Fly mode. This v1.2.1 mission has no triggers or clients in it at this point - but does have a few previously not-used a/c and brings some ships into play... and I got a DCS Stopped Working message in about 25 minutes mad It should be ready for Clients by the weekend - quite possibly I will leave out the triggers for now for testing, but that will mean no Won/Lost logic or progress reports when we first turn it on.
