Well - that's sort of what I'm talking about. Why does it have to be "done right"? I mean..I flew EF2K for years without knowing anything about the Eurofighter and had a good time with it. Same with all of the early Jane's titles. I mean, a lot of that stuff was concessions for gameplay. Same with Total Air War..a guesstimate that was fun enough.

I'm not arguing with you that a DCS level F-35 would have to have it done pretty well right, but for a consumer-level fun game, I have no problems with them approximating what the F-35 can do.

We agree. I am talking about an EF2000 level of simulation. Take a good guess at what the capabilities are. Not really a stretch, right?

I only say it because look at FC3... still no AIM-9X for the F-15. AIM-9X has been in sims for how long now? Over 10 years.

If it's not in a modern title, that's gonna make me take pause when I reach for my ATM card.

So, for god's sake, don't bother with an F-35 sim if it's just gonna be a stealth F-16.

I think they could make a really good techno geeky button pusher approximation of the F-35 (ED or DCS..not necessarily this Kickstarter project..)

Around the 2:30 mark things get fun..for button pushers like me.. biggrin

Glass cockpit. Not many buttons to push.

btw, wonder how that will work in a high-g, high stress environment. I can just see the pilots hand sliding
all over the display trying to find 'whatever' while dodging a fighter.

I'd guess much of that is pre-configurable and that in the heat of the battle all the necessary functions are HOTAS mapped.

Wow, that name takes me back...

Back in the 90's, before SimHQ was even a thought, Crimson, Myself, Recluse, Achangel, Deputy, Skater, and a few others used to meet in an online chat room every Friday night and BS about the sims that were coming out. It all usually revolved around Janes or when Falcon 4 would leave it's vapor ware status.

One night we were all chatting when some guy showed up and started talking with us about a future simulations. The guy was pretty cool actually. His name was Bill Stealy and when he was with IMagic he really did help in getting SimHQ rolling along. A thought to ponder guys....

I notice they misspelled Lightning (Lighting!) in the video.

I was actually thinking last night that it would be fun to have a MMO flight sim featuring modern weapons. Hope they can pull it off and I would love for iEN to enjoy a resurgence; I had some good times playing WB2.77 and DoA and it's sad to see where iEN is now. How do they even pay to keep the lights on?

But what about the fossil evidence?

There is a theory which states that if ever anyone discovers exactly what the universe is for it will instantly disappear and be replaced by something even more inexplicable.
There is another theory which states that this has already happened.

Being a former Dawn of Aces addict at one point and watching it sadly die on the vine, Wild Bill at the helm of a successful sim comeback is about as likely as Rebruht Nelag popping by and being welcomed back with open arms at SimHQ (I dare not utter The Unmentionable One's name properly here).

Dantes, I used to play DoA all the time as well. A lot of us have moved to Rise of FLight smile

SC-Spook is there along with quite a few of the old crowd. I just managed to get Grim (Toastr) to start playing a few weeks ago.
