This evening I spent some time in the world of modded Skyrim. I setup camp on an island in the middle of a lake and watched the night sky including a new shooting star mod I just installed.(really nice btw) I headed over towards the settlement of Falkreath and along the way discovered a new ruined tower in the woods guarded by bandits. I killed them, stole their green apples, cabbage and tomatos as well as read a book and stole some of their treasures. I hunted a nice deer but then was ambushed by a diseased mature elk, a bear, a pack of wolves and two spriggans at one time! I finally made it to Falkreath and called in a storm with my voice. All the the custom celtic music that I've installed into the game.

Nice! biggrin What's that electrical disturbance behind in the last shot?

The ENB mods won't work for me, Skyrim just crashes after the bethesda logo when I try and use any of them.

Very nice. Kudos to you guys playing in unarmored plain NPC clothes. Between the revamped melee combat, higher power archery and hypothermia mods that I use, I wouldn't last two in-game hours with that shirt lol. At lvl 20 in full Wolf armour with relevant perks, a bandit Highwayman will kill me with two arrows and a Draugr Scourge with just a few well placed swings.

BTW, just out of curiosity, what difficulty setting do you guys play at ?

Cheers

Nico

Hey Von I think I have it set to medium or some such. Being modded I'm not sure what all is considered under or over-powered. I'm almost a master archer(lvl99) so because of my skill in that I'm very deadly with ranged weaponry even on powerful enemies especially when I strike from a stealth position. If I'm not carefull I can be easily out matched at melee and some enemies can crush me with one blow.

Hey Mace that's the call storm shout. It brings inclement weather and lightning strikes! And as far as your ENB trouble, maybe you're not using the correct ENB core file. If you want I can send you the files of the ENB I'm using. Once again its a lite version that doesn't mess with SSAO and ambient occlusion junk that wrecks fps.

And man are mods great and so neccessary in creating an atmoshpere. Hearing wolves and birds and seeing birds perch and such along with celtic music strategically based depending on location or events is great.

I would love to see some creat volumetric clouds though. Weather is great with mods but if they could add a layer of real volumetric clouds in the sky that'd be awesome. I did see that someone made volumetric fog already so maybe it can happen?

Yes please Coot, those core files would be greatly appreciated, I'll PM you my email address.

@Von Barb, I'm on medium I think too and it is really hard even fighting spiders lol for me at the moment! I'm level 10 and not using magic, only have a steel sword and shield and an Orc bow and am hastily putting points into my archery tree as I am getting killed constantly lol. BUT, as I am not some superhero I am looking out for anything more powerful than me and avoiding or kiting with my bow and use of paralysis potions. I love using those, seeing them stop dead in their tracks biggrin

Hey Mace also check that your not running any monitoring programs like EVGA Precision or anything like that... i think I had the same problem and found out it was because of EVGA Precision running... not 100% sure now cuz it's been a while since I've played

Yea I believe that is also one of the problematic programs I read about. Try disabling it and running the game and see if it still crashes.

Have you tried it ? It really adds a lot of immersion. A few bugs when changing from 1st person to 3rd and back or when going to the map, but well worth trying.

Cheers

I saw that someone made a mod of Morrowind using the Oblivion state of the engine and someone is also doing it with the Skyrim engine. Looks to complicated for me though. Morrowind I never played much but my sister loved it. They do have a Morrowing overhaul that looks nice but I'd prefer to have it with ragdolls and havok.

Morroblivion was actually quite painless to install. All you needed to do was re-install Morrowind with all the add-ons and latest patches, then run their installer, which automatically went and looked for certain elements in the Morrowind directory to port it over to Oblivion. Then of course you needed to visit their website once in a while to stay up to date with the latest developments... Compatibility was pretty good with most mods, even with complete overhauls and FCOM, the mother of all mods.
Most of the items and environments still used Morrowind models though, and a great deal of work was still required to make it interesting beyond the novelty value (mainly importing quest lines). I wonder how much extra work they were forced to put in to move it all forward to the Skyrim engine. Hopefully, the Skyrim engine being "Oblivion 2", they should have something impressive to show pretty soon.

Cheers

Nico
