those shields-on-back look silly with a great/b*stard sword, also I find it funny how they try to always keep the full weapon onscreen, running around with a blade right against your face isn't really smart It does look great, definitely on my "to get" list edit: at the autocorrect edit2: ^and again, whatever, you get my drift ps: about my second edit, most forums require a :: around smilies, to differentiate them from standard text

Looking interesting... Wonder how it compares to War of The Roses ? Do you have a choice in what gear you wear with each class ? How are the physics ? Will a powerful sword hit "push" the victim back or are his feet "anchored" in the ground ? Characters doing the moonwalk when thrown back by a hit is one of my pet peeves with M&B/WoTR
Cheers
Nico

Nico I was also interested in War of the Roses but honestly, the lack of a no-respawn mode at launch annoyed me - Such an important mode for me. This game seems to have everything I'm looking for and maybe a bit more polish, Mount and Blade wasn't exactly a top tier product so their sequel might not be either. At the start of the round you choose your order, character and gear for that character so yes, you can choose weapons and such. ( Limited to something in your selected characters category and I think I'm seeing additional unlocks. ) Can't say much about physics as it's still Beta but the ragdoll feels good and bodies actually collide, so you can pile a bunch of them on top of each other which looks great. Yes you can knock people around with heavy hits from what I've seen, I have also seen the bots kick out after me but I haven't bothered to check controls yet, so I believe there is a way of pushing people back. I'm really looking forward to play the objective mode with some friends, where you have to either attack or defend farms, defend or kill peasants or set fire beacons on fire to signal ships while the other team tries to stop them. Overall the game seems to offer a lot great stuff but obviously it has a few issues with animations looking a bit odd at times, ragdoll doing some odd things etc. but I'll chalk to up to be beta so far. Another great thing is you can gib other players, cut off their head and various body parts - Adds to the thrill. ( They die of course, not limp along with missing legs and arms :P )

I cancelled my pre-order of War of the Roses after playing the beta. Pretty interesting to start with but after a while it got stale and boring with no skill needed, everyone just picked foot knight and spammed swings with the poleaxe or great sword without blocking and circle-strafed constantly. Not good.

Well, I beg to differ. Huge M&B fan here, though I have to agree the career mode is its biggest sell point while MP gets old very quickly. Regardless, the gameplay concept is a great one IMO, and if you can look past the old-gen graphics, it is an awesome little game. I played about 9hrs of WoTR Beta and enjoyed it a lot. You do make valid points, but I'll give them a chance. After all what we saw was only a Beta, and the fast levelling and unlocking may well be made slower and harder in the finished product, not to mention a larger offering in armour and weapons choices. I'll give Chivalry a try too. You can never have enough Medieval First Person Slasher games Cheers Nico

From the gameplay videos it looks far better than War of the Roses as people actually have to block and parry rather than just spamming left mouse button.

Was it one of these games that had no collision detection between bodies? War of the Roses? I'm not sure actually, perhaps not as it just felt floaty.
