Digging through my stuff and I found my old copy of MiG Alley.
I'd like to fire it up but I don't have a copy of the "latest" patch.
Could someone tell me what number that was (and where it can be found)?
Thanks in advance!

Thank you, Chucky!
I can't remember but is the "beta" patch that is also on the site you linked necessary as well?

I'm not sure,Castiglione,I never used it. I think it's just to add Track IR support maybe? Probably no harm in trying it I would have thought. *edit* Just realised I still have the manual for this game.I wonder where the disc is?

I've been finding lots of useful info through Google. 90% of the links are now dead pages, but as Google has them cached, just use that option - plenty of it is still available to read (but that Spring Offensive Strategy Guide seems to have only been up at Frugal's and is gone.. ) You would think some nice soul who has it would upload it for us, wouldn't you...

What a nice soul and a gent! Thanks very much I did find a link to one on Game Front - don't know if it was yours or not - but each time I tried to download it I got an access error. This one downloaded just fine. Thanks again, time to get reading!

Amazingly, my MiG Alley disc arrived today. However, it won't install at all on Win7 64 - gets to 10% and has a disc read error. Copied it with Daemon Tools but it does exactly the same. I can't find any other people having this issue (using Google) so I will now try it on my Win98SE rig. { later...}It works on the Win98SE rig, so now I'll start fiddling to get it on 7. Think I may have downloaded a Win7 installer for it. At least the 1.23 patch is included on the disc, though

See this http://simhq.com/forum/ubbthreads.php/topics/3659311/Mig_Alley_install_problems_Win#Post3659311Hold on to your Win98 install for a bit, you may need it. I managed to get mine working under Win7/64. Installation of the game itself went OK using Win98 compatibility mode, but the 1.23 patch gave me a "tt2.exe does not support 64-bit" error. As a result, some files weren't copied and the game would crash when using the map view (M key). My solution was to copy everything from my old Mig Alley installation (Win7/32) over the new one (I think you only need the Imagemap folder, but I'm not sure about that). As far as I remember, this tt2.exe program is used for changing aircraft skins or using custom nose art. So it's possible that some mods may not work under 64bit.

Yeah, thanks, Johan, I read that and another earlier similar post. I don't really want to have to mess about too much, but I have a number of things in mind to try out first. If it turns into a beely ache, I'll just play it on Win98. I've just put my XP one into reserve, so I can't test it on that, but I'll see what happens on Vista, too. edit: Couldn't resist having a quick go on Win98 with my old Sidewinder Pro. Very sensitive handling with that - but then it always was with almost all sims. Still managed to land just fine on the first mission, to my great surprise. However, as I didn't know which key was the wheelbrake and none that I was frantically pressing had any effect whatsoever, I ended up a burning wreck at the far end of the runway! Good fun, though! I managed to install it into Win7 H64 by loading the disc image into Daemon Tools and then running the install exe with Win98 compatibility. The patch won't go in the same way, though - so I'm in the process of copying the install folder (with 1.23 patch) onto my Win7 installation as Smithcorp did.

Got it working in Win7 H64 with complete control using my G940 with full FFB effects etc - no worries! Yes, I did cheer a cuppla times really loud, as I thought it wasn't going to work when after all the copying and so on all I got was a big black box. But the secret is to wait - can be up to a couple of minutes - and then she springs to life, fullscreen (1680x1050) if rather blocky and jaggy (untweaked as yet). Great stuff. The FFB for the cannon is really wicked!

Do you need the missing map files which the 1.23 patch (tt2.exe) cannot convert? Just copy it, and give the map a try. I do not have Mig Alley installed, but I am storing this zip since then and as far as I remember, this should be a solution. https://www.dropbox.com/s/8jjrjvapvyul4o7/MA-SMAP.zipForgot to say that it should go in the imagemap directory.

Ehh, every time someone mentions mig alley, I have to reinstall it. I can confirm, if you copy these files, the map is working fine too!

Thanks - got it. I was using the tt2.exe from the 1.23 patch. I hadn't tried the map yet. I got the sim working nicely with the 1.23 patch, but after installing the 0.85F and F2 to get TrackIR, it now won't work! Says it doesn't recognise analog controller 3 or similar. It had a list of all my controllers (6 in total) and any I configured in-sim worked just fine before 0.85F. I'm wondering if it is referring to the Track IR. I'll have to start from scratch again tomorrow I'll try 0.85F first and check it, then 0.85F2 just to see which one causes the issue. Got a nice couple of FRAPS vids of my test flights - but the jaggies are big, as it's also suddenly decided I can't choose a higher resolution than 800x600, though I could probably alter that somewhere with an edit. Originally I could choose up to 1280x960 (I think). One thing at a time.

I can't help you with your TIR problems, but the long loading times are probably because you have set compatibility mode of mig.exe to Win98. Change compatibility mode to WinXP and things should go to normal.

I do not use any compatibility, and its running without issues under win7 64bit. I must admit, that I am using only 85F, not the F2. The only thing I would mention is that the fps can drop low especially close to the ground, but I can live with it for the time being.
