As I was coming in for a gun run on a Shilka I took some hits but was able to limp home and land safely. ... Upon playing the replay I was suprised when observing the same encounter, the Shilka actually shot me down and I obviously died. Sounds like an M. Night Shyamalan mission. "I see dead Hawgs!". AFAIK, the ED track playback system consists of setting up the simulation with a defined set of starting conditions and then starting the simulation with the user control/keyboard inputs played back. In theory, if the simulation is 100% repeatable, you should get the exact same performance. In reality, there are numerous factors that result in the simulation results being slighty different from real-time play and playback (just guessing, but things like frame overruns, randnom number draws, exception handling, etc.). Once one function returns even a slightly different result the rest of the simulation playback can rapidly diverge from what was originally occurring. And that's with a sim that's exactly the same configuration: install/remove a mod here or there or play a track from a different version of the sim playback gets broken very quickly. The current method is just not robust for even minor differences in sim execution. I love the IL2-1946 playback system that uses the .ntrk files, as it actually stores aircraft positions and velocities, ensuring a more accurate playback across machines and across versions and (most) mods. I know I would love to have something like that in DCS World.

i ran a mission a week ago, took out tanks with my Mavericks and LGBs,
took some hits, landed with no gear (skid landing),
Watched the saved replay, apparently I lowered my gear and dove into the ground before I even encounted the tanks that I got credit for killing, its like the Replay TRACK stopped recording inputs and coordinates and the system just floats the plane into the ground.

As said, it is a long standing problem. Changing views or altering time rate will also cause errors on even a short and simple track. ROF seems to have recording and playback functioning quite well also.
