I installed WINDOWS 7 on a new SSD. So now, do I need to re=install the game? I was on XP 32 bit. I am thinking I have to start over. But the 'old' install in on the old hard drive that I still have connected up. I am just booting from the SSD with Windows 7.

No need to reinstall. Copying and pasting the game folder to any HD will still allow it to work just fine in my experience with this game over the past 3 years. I keep all my games on a separate HD and have upgraded the OS several times over the years and those that don't require registry entries to run, like RoF, Il-2, etc. never need to be reinstalled and work just fine. Steam, on the other hand will need to be reinstalled, even if on another HD like I have mine.

Thanks Avatar. But when I went to install Steam it wanted to re-install the game, so I let it. Now the questions is just what files in what folders do I want and need to copy to the new install to have my settings like buttons assigned to the joy stick and any buttons I may have changed for the key board assignments?

Save the 1C Folder in My Documents, that goes for many other games as well if they save your progress or have special unlocks they will probably be saved in a folder in this location.

Very odd thing. I had CoD intalled on my hard drive but then I bought this new SSD and disconnected the old hard drive (which has XP on it). I then connected the old hard drive back up. It is now drive E.

But here is the odd thing. The new install of CoD that is on the new SSD some how picked up the key assignments I had under the old install. And those assignments seem to be what is now the default. I'm glad it happened.

Anyway, as best I can tell the button and axis assignments to the joy stick, CH Throttle Quadrant, Saitek rudder control and of course seen as far as I can tell in the following path.

Users/Uriah/MyDocuments/1c SoftClub/il-2 sturmovick cliffs of dover

then i am not sure which is the default file. I think it is confUser. Any ideas?

I suspect that Steam has something to do with remembering my old settings and loading them back.

Steam saves your settings in the Cloud.

Yes, that's the right path to confUsers.ini.

The 'Steam Cloud' thing will synchronise your settings (including that file) when you activated the game on the new drive. You can turn it off in the 'Properties / Updates / Enable Steam Cloud synchronization..' option.
