No, you almost always get the option to install a game wherever you like. For IL2:1946 it is recommended to not install it in the default location. IL2:1946 can be moved to a different location and copied as often as you like. On Windows 7, one has to open the DVD with explorer and run the "a.exe" to get it to install.

If you buy games from Steam, you can choose to install Steam on the second drive. Alternatively, when installing Steam on the C-drive, you have a tool that allows you to move games to another drive/location.

OK...game came in the mail today.
My present box has WinXP on it and it's not too fast.
The hard drive is only 40GB's and it's half full.

Should I try to install it over my IL2/AEP/BOE/PF 4.4m version?

Or just install it somewhere else and give it a try?

Or maybe just leave my old system as is, and wait for the new box to arrive......???

Install it separately, fly around a bit, then compare it later to the new box. smile You can wipe it when it's running on your shiny new system.

I not only got the JAMF wrong....I got the drives wrong.
I'm thinking of a good alias for me right now....and it's not Murphy.... wink
Sorry.

So school me.
I didn't know there was anything BUT optical drives.

Can you give me a link to a good DVD drive at New Egg, if you get time.

DVD Drives

Because I have no idea.....
BTW....the drives were the ONLY thing that I picked out on my own....Speedbump gave me link to a nice one, but it was only 'pick up in store' only, they wouldn't ship it. So I picked out my own....lol....GREAT JOB!
At least I didn't get a CD drive. rolleyes
See.....I need help JAM'F'. No kidding.

Just a little nervous...I don't spend this kind of money very often....

Is this one you would recommend?..... LiteOn

I can't recommend one, because I haven't kept up to date with development of those. I'll repeat the reply in the other thread to keep it in one place to make it less confusing. smile

Take your time, wear some examination gloves, make sure you are grounded before handling components, study your MB Book and see where all your connections go (usually the case to MB connections are the hard part) and enjoy! The Lite On DVD Drive will be fine, I use one.

I did it all right, booted it up, and the thing will only run with one core activated.
Got a bad CPU...the OS would only run with one core BSOD with any more cores not disabled, no bent pins, just a bad cpu....just RMAed it, and ordered another one at the same time. This is taking much too long.
Just my luck rolleyes Yeah...I had my strap on....thing really gets in the way though... wink

I'll have my 'rockets'....nothing will stop me.....lol....

Gotta say, when it did boot up, until the BSOD...the HD view, was really something smile

New CPU installed, had 3 bad cores out of four, system works great with the new processor.

Looking for those 'Rockets' now...

And DCS should look really good with this build.
Thanks for the 'nudge' Murph..... biggrin
Going to install IL2-1946 on this system now, patch it up, and give it a ride.
