Which airfields in "Over Flanders Fields" are your favourite three places to fly from?

Please everyone, name your three best liked airfields,
and give us at least one reason for each airfield, WHY you like it so much.
Let me begin with my fav 3, to give you the idea.

1. Marchais (Marne Region)
Reason: the field is situated in a beautiful landscape, near three bigger lakes.
These make it very easy to find, even from further away - always a special feeling
of "homecoming".

2. Roucourt (Flanders)
Reason: Roucourt was the homefield for Jasta 11 for a while, and even longer for a Staffel
I like to fly with every now and then - Jasta 12, the black-tails. At Roucourt, the flyers
had their quarter in the beautiful Chateau de Roucourt, which I know from several photos.
It was just a short way to walk to the field, which was situated between a wood and the
town of Roucourt. I like to imagine this whole situation there.

3. Bertangles (Flanders)
Reason: When I fly an earlier British campaign, I like to fly with No. 24 Sqdn, RFC.
Their aircraft in 1916 is the DH-2, a little challenge to fly (and I'll never get as good
as Major Lanoe Hawker!). I love this field, simply because it actually consists of three
airfields, and so, when I return from a patrol, I imagine how I sit in my kite, wondering
which mess I should visit this evening, to enjoy some good British beer in good company.

My Top 3 Airfields

1. The one I'm taking off from

2. The one I'm strafing or bombing

3. The one I am landing at - which isn't always the same as the one I took off from.

What can I say? I like to keep things simple. :P

You call that simple, to land on a different airfield than you started from?
Imagine the confusion you bring about - maybe simple for you, but what about
the ground crews?
screwy biggrin

I guess you are moving around a lot, Hellshade, with no particular Squadron
or area/airfield you fancy more than others?

Well, you could land them anywhere, where you see splashes instead of dust, when you fire at the surface. winkngrin
If you had them...

That just the problem, it had NO guns. The only place you could Land and Take-off again was the Thames. You could Land in a Lake, but it was a oneway trip

Ah, I see! Could you not "drive" it on the surface of a lake, turn at the end,
and try to take off from there? I never used them; must be Phase 1?

Actually it was Phase 1 and 2 QC only as there was no actual targets. The newer sea planes have rudders on the rear of the floats, but not in 1916

Until Gandi made the third party mission, the most excitement possible with the SHORT. Was landing on the Thames, taxi under center span of tower bridge, and it was tight, to take-off on the other side

I tried numerous times to get hit by my own torpedo. Till I realized the iron fish runs six feet deep, but I only draw 18 inhes
