I spent the last week downloading freeware France scenery for X-plane, which consists of satellite scenery and Openstreet map data and roads for the entire country. Not to mention a ton of airport scenery. Its available here, if anyone is interested (http://zonephoto.x-plane.fr/france16_EN.php)

All together it took me several days to download it all and my X-plane 10 directory is now at a whopping 369 GB! My FSX directory is 230GB and I thought that was huge. I also purchased "Final Frontier", which adds 120+ detailed airport scenery for Alaska along with a lot of stuff in between. Im having fun exploring the wilderness in the Carenado Caravan!

Here are some shots of both

Nice shots Scoobe.

Yeah that freeware photo coverage site is great, I downloaded a bunch of Portugal scenery from there and now just need to figure out how to do the OpenStreets buildings for it.

Also that Alaska scenery sounds right up my alley, I'll have to check that out as that is one of my favorite areas to fly, thanks for the heads up.

I managed to get that OSM2XP program going with pretty decent results for Lisbon, hope you don't mind me posting a couple in this thread:

Heading out of downtown Lisbon in the BK117:

Flying over Estoril Race Track:

It looks like the results depend on the source data in OpenStreets, but so far I'm pretty pleased with the results especially for freeware, and I'm sure if I can locate some detailed mesh for the area it will help too.

I echo your findings on directory size, with all the freeware scenery I've downloaded for XP10 even in the last few weeks, I can tell it will easily take up more disk space than FSX.
