Being a complete beginner with FSX, I am looking for good addons, in particular a nice helicopter to enjoy VFR scenery with. I've tried the R22 and Jet Ranger that come bundled with FSX, the lack of a trim button as in Black Shark is disappointing.

Is there a helicopter addon for FSX with a decent flight model and proper trim? I don't care too much about anything else, I mainly want to learn more about navigation, radio and explore beautiful VFR scenery, but before I spend money on the scenery, I would like to have a proper platform for enjoying it.

So, any suggestions?

Most of real smaller civilian helicopters doesn't have trim like Ka-50 have, FSX is accurate here.

Actually there is only one FSX helicopter on Black Shark level, and that's Dodosim Bell 206. But it doesn't have trim, real one doesn't have one either. There are few other FSX helicopter devs, like Cerasim and Nemeth Designs, some of their products are quite good, but don't expect Black Shark, or Dodosim 206 quality.

Aerosoft Huey X, Seahawk & Jayhawk X, and Nemeth Designs CH-53E are fun to fly. You won't spend the whole flight fighting their controls even without trim, and you have a lot of stuff in the cockpits to fiddle with. Area51 OH-58D is another fun to fly chopper, but it's no more complex than default 206. I suggest you visit hovercontrol.com to get some decent freeware choppers.

The Cera Bell 222 is pretty good, not Dodo 206 level but more realistic than the Nemeth helicopters in my opinion.

Also have a look at HTR (helicopter total realism), a add on that IMHO adds another level of realism to FSX helicopter physics (I have no rotor experience so can't testify to it being like the real thing - but it "feels" more realistic)
