I don't know why I have such a hard time with some things when everyone else isn't, but here goes. I decided to finally install DCS World. I have A-10C and I thought the instructions said that you install World first, than reinstall your module. I did that. My A-10 is still not in DCS World. It says I need to buy it. What am I doing wrong?

Pooch, it's confusing at first, but you just install DCS World.

But you don't then use your old installation files or CDs for A-10C any more. These will not be used to install A-10C again.

You just download the file that mrskortch linked to, and install that, and you're done.

You don't have to pay for A-10C again, or anything like that, it's just a complete replacement of the old installation.


The version you end up with in DCS World can do things the old version could not do, or could not sustain for more than a few minutes. Like true nappe of the Earth low-level flight and fighting. Thus all Ai flights now behave and perform and survive much better than before. Plus you have much greater planning control, because you know that they can fly almost anything you plan for them now. Plus the Ai waste way less fuel than in all prior versions, so aircraft now have better range and endurance and are thus more likely to complete missions and RTB. And they can all hide and approach more stealthily from behind terrain, so can attack from cover with a much higher elements of surprise, and can escape back into it more reliably.

So you can now go from nothing, to 20 aircraft suddenly pouring over ridge tops and emerging from open valleys, within seconds, and making concerted attacks. It's pretty cool. So all SAMs and AAA now have less opportunities to get hits, if the mission routes and support-packages are planned to coincide with your attacks. Plus fighters have less lead time to intercept attackers, and escorts can approach at low-level with you, then climb up to 20k feet as you launch missiles at targets, so the escorts can cover your attack and RTB. Many new possibilities there now, which did not work before.

So now imagine that, with an nicely de-bugged implementation of the F-15E. We'll need a new and bigger map, to let it stretch out it's legs on those deep-strike Hi-Lo-Hi missions on high-value rear-area targets. i.e. true fastjet interdiction-strike sorties, with A2A self-escorting.

Until then the A-10C will do.

All right, thanks. I had used my orginal installer, that was the problem. I grabbed the one you pointed mt to, and it works exactly the way its supposed to. I'm surprised I didn't have to go and dig up my password and serial number and all that.
Spent last night relearning this. Haven't been flying it for a while, but will now.

Oh, by the way. I hadn't uninstalled my original game. I have two now. Can I safely dump my first one?

If you plan to play multiplayer you may want to stick with a dual install of DCS World 1.2.0 and A-10C 1.1.1.1 because the 1.1.1.1 is much more stable currently than World.

Hopefully they get the MP ironed out soon in 1.2.0..

There's only one source of information that matters in this respect, and that is ED. They're aware of the problem and they will fix it; they just happen to have networking resources tied up right now in creating a dedicated server.

No one likes it when a bug like this slips out, and it's worse when you can't put people on it right away.

umm, you're hearing a big crybaby (ME) whine disappointment about mission builder omissions and getting talked down to as in 'Middle Ages'

Just to be clear. You said there is only one source of information on that (ED) and you are setting the record straight. So are you the official voice of ED? Just curious so we can take what you say as coming direct from ED.

Well, the smartass answer, "umm...the internet," didn't exactly fill me in on what's going on.
When I asked what the problem is, I meant that it could be graphics related, not being able to connect to the game, not being able to STAY connected to the game, lag....or if really bad, all of the above.

DCS World seems to have some stability issues in multiplayer. Some folks are reporting that they are getting kicked from their multiplayer session while others are having problems connecting in the first place. It's got some folks pretty bent out of shape about it, as you can tell by the heat in this thread.

Wrecking Crew, send me one of your missions and I can guarantee I can get it working in 1.2.0 without compromising the content of the mission.
